POSITION TITLE: Manager, Communications & Media
STATUS:Full time
DEPARTMENT: Communications and External Relations
DIVISION: Communications and Marketing

REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Communications and Marketing
PLACEMENT: Admin/Professional Grade 9
MINIMUM PAY RATE: $56,827 annually

POSITION SUMMARY

Manages the college's media relations and social media strategy, including the creation of content for a variety of traditional and social channels, while ensuring consistency with overall communication strategy and messaging. Works with stakeholders to tell the college's story and elevate the perception of the college to the communities it serves. Serves as a secondary public information officer on the college's emergency response team.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Works closely with stakeholders to develop and implement integrate media and social strategies designed to achieve the college's strategic goals.
2.Write media releases, feature stories, and other communications pieces; work with division counterparts on outreach campaigns, including the college's biannual magazine; create content for the college's website for spotlight stories and the digital newsroom.
3.Lead editorial process for the college's internal digital newsletter.
4.Track media placements and social mentions, providing consistent data and analysis on a regular basis to drive decision-making.
5.Develop and lead social media education for employees representing the college on social platforms in accordance with college procedure.
6.Manage communication and multimedia specialist and review projects and coordinate assignments.
7.Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1.Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism or related field.
2.Three (3) years of successful related experience.
3.Demonstrated knowledge in media relations and social strategy.
4.Ability to work closely with multiple constituents, including faculty, students, staff, alumni, and community representatives.
5.Demonstrated knowledge in writing for multiple mediums including social and for print.
6.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
7.Demonstrated commitment to the college's core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1.Community college experience and knowledge of higher education issues.
2.Knowledge of Associate Press style.
3.Prior crisis communications training or FEMA National Incident Management System certification.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1.Normal office physical demands.
2.Ability to travel between campus locations.
3.English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
4.Demonstrated multicultural competence.

WORKING CONDITIONS
1.Duties are performed indoors in the usual office environment.
