Job Description

The Loudoun County Department of Community Corrections is currently seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Electronic Monitoring Supervisor. Under the general direction of the Deputy Director, this position oversees daily operations of the Electronic Monitoring and Analytics Unit.

This position supervises three Assistant Probation Officers, develops fiscal year performance appraisals and provides feedback related to job performance, reviews timecards for accuracy, oversees inventory of GPS and alcohol monitoring devices. Serves as the point of contact for staff to troubleshoot violations related to electronic monitoring, in conjunction with the Pretrial Manager, Probation Manager, Criminal Justice Analyst, Victim Outreach Officer, Deputy Director, and Director. Assists with providing staff training and development regarding electronic monitoring and surveillance. Collaborates with Deputy Director to monitor vendor contract compliance and develops on-call schedules for electronic monitoring. Works closely with the Financial Analyst regarding electronic monitoring accounts. Additionally, this position will work with the Pretrial Division, Probation Division, Domestic Violence Unit, Sex Offender supervision, Drug Court Program, and Mental Health Docket, which are all within the scope of the Department of Community Corrections. Duties also include administering drug tests, assuring special Court ordered conditions are fulfilled and reporting violations to the courts, testifying in court as needed, and documenting case activities in the PTCC case management system. This position serves as a member of the extended management team and assists with data collection, statistics, development of standard operating procedures, and strategic planning related to the Electronic Monitoring and Analytics Unit.


Job Requirements

Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or related field; three (3) years criminal justice or counseling work experience including functional or operational administrative experience in a criminal justice, jail, or corrections setting; includes a minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Special Requirements

Position requires extensive knowledge of electronic monitoring programs, including experience utilizing GPS and/or alcohol monitoring devices; ability to use electronic monitoring software programs; knowledge of probation and/or pretrial programs. Must be willing to supervise high-risk pretrial defendants and probationers in an office setting and perform occasional residential visits/community collateral contacts. Must be willing to work with criminal offenders, some of whom have violent histories and be willing to collect urine and breath samples for drug and alcohol testing. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills and be able to compile facts and information into concise reports for submission to the Court and interact with representatives from the legal community such as judges, Commonwealth's Attorneys, law enforcement, defense attorneys, and court personnel. Knowledge of the dynamics of domestic violence /sexual assault and victim services preferred. The successful candidate must be able to multitask in a fast-paced, high volume, dynamic work environment, and work as part of a team within the Community Corrections Department. VCIN certification is required or selected candidate must obtain within 90 days of employment. Bilingual Spanish preferred.
