This position is based out of Feeding America's new office location in the heart of downtown Chicago. At Feeding America, we believe in offering a flexible work environment. Employees can be in the office an average of 2-3 days a week (when not travelling for work) and work from home on other days. Employees also have access to a 30-day "work anywhere" program during the course of each calendar year that can be combined with PTO and/or holidays.

The Opportunity

The Systems Engineer - Security will report to the Managing Director, Infrastructure Services. The Systems Engineer will help evaluate current security needs, help prioritize and remediate weaknesses in Feeding America's security profile. Work with the Managing Director to improve processes, craft policies and procedures, and evaluate security technologies.

Salary Range: $78,000 to $98,000+ Based on Experience

Responsibilities:

  • Lead efforts with input from the MD of Infrastructure on crafting security policies and procedures.
  • Work with IT leadership and Infrastructure to manage vulnerability assessments and remediation efforts.
  • Conduct security audits to determine password policy compliance, endpoint protection, privileged access, etc.
  • Help craft and enforce standard configuration for Windows servers and workstations as well as Cisco networking gear.
  • Work with IT leadership to conduct annual IT Risk Assessment process that roles into the organizations risk management process.
  • Evaluate security technologies as needs are identified. Be able to work with a project manager and system engineers as necessary to implement new security technologies and standards.
  • Work with Managing Director to continue to develop and enhance Feeding America's cybersecurity practice.
  • Possess oral and written communication skills to work with technical and non-technical folks to implement policies, procedures, and practices necessary to improve our cybersecurity posture and mitigate identified risks
  • Cultivates and disseminates knowledge of security best practices
Required Experience and Qualifications:
  • Cybersecurity certifications / accreditation a plus
  • Demonstrated experience in crafting security policies, procedures and standards
  • Experience in penetration testing, vulnerability assessment and remediation
  • Understanding of security best practices and technologies
  • Experience with auditing and testing in regard to enforcement of policies, procedures and standards
  • Demonstrated involvement with the security community and possession of security certifications a plus
  • Demonstrated experience in forensics investigations and knowledge of forensics tools a plus
