Job Overview:
To contribute specialist knowledge into our Fleet Services In-service 'Class group' within Fleet Services Department to advise and propose appropriate solutions to cases within technical framework and understanding of both client and LR business requirements to internal and external clients to enable ships (assets) to remain in Class and compliance or to be brought back into Class. Together with input to overall LR strategy implementation
Location: Miami, Florida
Responsibilities:
- To provide technical knowledge, guidance, and advice to ensure the governance process is operating effectively and efficiently across Lloyd's Register's Marine and Offshore business
- To monitor developments in the industry and Lloyd's Register's competitive positioning within Classification and recommend areas for future investigation and development to help improve LR's competitive offering
- To make recommendations based on internal / external client feedback to assist in service delivery improvement and to help build the business
- Responsible for ensuring that the processes and procedures within applicable Class group section are co-ordinated and effective in meeting the business/commercial requirements for both internal and external clients
- Deal with business queries and build relationships with internal and external clients, as appropriate, to resolve service problems and build the business
- To represent LR at external meetings and events as required
- To mentor/coach team members, as appropriate, to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application
- Liaise with other business areas/offices to ensure consistency in development and delivery of business/commercial services to internal and external clients
- Always assess the risks and work in a safe manner, robustly implementing health and safety rules, instructions and systems and refuse to undertake work that compromises your safety or health. Report in a timely manner all incidents including near miss and safety observations (NMSO), accidents and injuries and raise any health and safety concerns with your line manager.
To be considered:
- A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyd's Register within the relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum of two years programme) or Qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship's officer
- Membership of an appropriate professional institution
- Professional, Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status or equivalent
- Proficiency in the English Language commensurate with the work
- Significant experience of successfully managing and inspiring a team to perform and develop in challenging circumstances; demonstrable skills in varying management styles (consultative and authoritative). Experience of managing change
- Strong knowledge of commercial operations
- Excellent relationship builder, client focussed with (both internal and external) client management skills
- In depth knowledge of classification and statutory regulations
- In depth knowledge of LR procedures for technical governance of classification and survey (Class and Statutory) procedures
