Job Summary:

This position will involve the origination, investigation, diligence and analysis of energy project acquisitions and investments and will include the preparation and analysis of detailed portfolio performance models, business valuation models, reports, and review of financial information to assist the Tenaska Capital Deployment & Finance group in the deployment of capital and financing of complex energy assets.

Essential Job Functions:



  • Ability to originate, analyze and execute on energy-centric acquisitions, investments and related capital sourcing (debt and equity).
  • Ability to understand and participate in the negotiation and implementation of purchase and sale agreements, financing documents, project documents, tax law and regulations, and partnership documents.
  • Create and maintain relationships with investment bankers, sponsors, lenders and equity partners.
  • Ability to understand and participate in commercial transactions associated with capacity, energy, and other energy related commodities.
  • Supervise and oversee the preparation of analysis, reports, and research for distribution/presentation to senior management.
  • Supervise and oversee the preparation of detailed economic performance and business valuation models using Microsoft Excel.
  • Communication with senior management on the results of economic analysis.
  • Ability to work with internal and external professionals, such as engineering, operations, asset management, finance and accounting, to construct and analyze financial and operating performance aspects of complex projects in an economic reporting model.
  • Dependable, reliable and predictable attendance is required.
  • Provide oversight and training for personnel to enable the completion of the tasks listed above.


Education/Experience/Skills

Basic Requirements:



  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or Engineering and a MBA is helpful
  • A minimum of 7 years' experience in an acquisition or finance position is preferred
  • Work experience in the energy industry or the financial services industry is strongly preferred but not required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, business decision making, and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of financial and business information systems
  • High level of assertiveness, initiative, interpersonal skills, and flexibility to perform a wide variety of projects with an unpredictable schedule and periodic short deadlines
  • Ability to act independently
  • Ability to handle extremely confidential and sensitive company information
  • Excellent PC/Windows, Excel, Word, and database ability
