Vice President, Commercial Operations (REMOTE)

JOB SUMMARY: The Vice President Commercial Operations (VPCO) is a strategic leader for WCG and will contribute to the overall growth of new business and retention of current business. The VPCO will provide strategic leadership and oversight for all submissions through an end-to-end proposal management process inclusive of directing both internal and external resources. The VPCO is responsible the integrity and quality of the core services through implementing best practice, measurable, and repeatable processes that result in winning proposals and meet organizational goals, including development of Proposals, Contracts and Change Orders to satisfy client requests for services. The VPCO is responsible for leadership of the Client Services group, including development of department members. Integral to the responsibilities of this role is ensuring collaboration with all functions including coordination with Finance and Business Development.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
* BS/BA required; Master's Degree preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
* Minimum of 10 years working in the clinical research or life sciences industry
* 7 to 10 years experience working with bids/quotes technical procedure, legal documents and government regulations within a CRO, pharmaceutical company or comparable environment.
* Minimum of 7 years directly managing a team, including employee development.
* Proven effectiveness in client management.
* Proven collaboration skills, working across multiple internal and external functions.
* Effective communication and organizational skills; excellent analytical, attention to detail, problem solving, negotiation, interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
* Solid critical thinking, problem resolution, and time management skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.
* Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the Client Services team including retention and development of employees. Partner with Human Capital Management to motivate and develop talent addressing development or performance issues to optimize business performance
* Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all submissions through an end-to-end proposal management process inclusive of directing both internal and external resources, ensuring the development of Proposals, Contracts and Change Orders (pricing and supportive text) meet Company requirements and satisfy client requests for services.
* Partners with internal stakeholders such as Operations, Project Management and Finance to ensure that the Client Services team is aligning with the overall company strategy, proactively incorporating learnings into the proposal and contract documents as well as potential budget changes.
* Responsible for the oversight of client services processes for the division, recommending enhancement, process improvements and leading the resulting changes/activities.
* Drive consistency, efficiency and identification of best practices in the development of proposals. Serving as the nexus between internal operational teams and BD to translate processes into budget line items and proper description of services
* Align with WCG leadership to represent the Clinical Services team in client meetings with a focus on contractual and budgetary questions. As well as serves as a company ambassador at scientific meetings to assist BD in talking to new and existing clients
* Overall responsibility for internal QC of documents, create policies, SOPs, and other controlled documents, directing team to work within Standard Operating procedures within the regulated Clinical Trial environment.
* Support the RFP generation beginning to end including negotiations activities.
* Other duties as assigned by supervisor. These may, on occasion, be unrelated to the position described here.
* Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the position.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Overall responsibility of management including direction, coordination, performance, and evaluation of the assigned team and staff. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to travel domestic and internationally, approximately 20% of the time, including overnight stays as necessary, consistent with business needs and office location.

Expected annual base salary range: $160,000 to $240,000
