Job Title: Behavioral Healthcare Intern

Department: Education

Reports To: BCBA

Intern Job Functions:

The Behavioral Healthcare Intern will assist with the daily duties of a behavior technician/RBT and administer and score assessments as assigned by the BCBA. The Behavioral Healthcare Intern will assist clients in completing the intake process. Interns will participate in team meetings, meetings with caregivers, and meetings with the school to gain experience in a wraparound approach. Interns will also participate in evening programing.

Essential Responsibilities:

All duties must be undertaken under the close supervision and guidance of the counseling staff

  1. Make ethical decisions by applying the standards of the BACB Code of Ethics
  2. Complete all training as assigned by the BCBA and school requirements.
  3. Complete intakes.
  4. Enter data and maintain case notes into Unity and ensure data required elements are up to date.
  5. Utilize other databases as needed.
  6. Implement tiered interventions.
  7. Completes all required Metropolitan Ministries paperwork in a timely manner according to established deadlines.
  8. Attend weekly supervision with BCBA.
  9. Maintain and update BCBA of classroom and client needs.
  10. Administer comprehensive assessments to evaluate client's progress.
  11. Maintain professional boundaries.
  12. Become knowledgeable of community resources and agencies.
  13. Participate and attend department meetings as appropriate.
  14. Maintain files; keeping needed materials organized and confidentially files.
  15. Communicate schedule.
  16. Stay up to date on emails.
  17. Collaborate with team.
  18. Other duties as requested

Secondary Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with other Metropolitan Ministries Programs in learning what that department does and how to assist with clients
  2. Regular attendance during scheduled intern times is expected. (Notify on-site supervisor and affected co-workers if you are not able to attend as planned.)
  3. Other duties as assigned by supervisor or directors.
Requirements

Education and Experience:

Must be seeking or have a degree in Behavioral Healthcare. A concentration in ABA is preferred. Must be open to working with all ages and individuals experiencing homelessness. Must be willing and eager to learn about providing applied behavior analysis services in an afterschool school and preschool setting.

Skill Requirements:

Must be able to work within a multi-disciplinary team framework; strong interpersonal skills; strong oral in written communication skills; dependability; demonstrates maturity and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences in clients served; ability to handle job related matters in a professional, diplomatic, and confidential manner; well organized; detail oriented; be able to multi-task; be able to work with minimal supervision and collaboratively. Must have background knowledge in applied behavior analysis.

Physical Requirements:

Hearing in speaking ability that allows for effective oral communication. Physical and emotional stamina to effectively handle job related issues and stress.
