Summary of Job Description

The position, Material Handler II, is responsible for loading, unloading, and moving materials within or near the plant, yard, or work site to the designated work stations in a safe and efficient manner while minimizing damage to materials. The Material Handler II must be able to utilize data from a computer or print outs to prepare parts for the stations.

Essential Functions

  • Read work orders or follow oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved or opened
  • Load and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand
  • Load materials into vehicles and install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit
  • Convey materials from storage or work sites to designated area, material work zone
  • Secure lifting attachments to materials and transport load to destination or signal crane or hoisting operators to move load to destination
  • Count, weigh, and record number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheets
  • Attach identifying tags or labels to materials or mark information on cases, bales, or other containers
  • Make simple adjustments or repair such as realigning belts or replacing rollers
  • Operate industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products
  • Empty trash and handle recycle program
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Regular attendance required
  • All other duties and responsibilities that are assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education
  • Three months of related experience

Preferred Qualifications to complete Essential Functions

  • Forklift license
  • Knowledge of work flow in multiple work zones, materials, dock, painted parts, fabrication, and line calls
  • Able to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work on Kanban, Supermarket or POUS
  • Basic computer skills

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to perform twisting, turning, bending, climbing, pushing, and pulling motions
  • Ability to lift at least 75lbs
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)-steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, vest

Work Environment

Working conditions will be inside and outside where temperatures will vary from extreme heat to extreme cold for extended periods of time. This position is regularly exposed to vibration and loud noises.
