Description

Honda Aero, Inc. in Burlington, NC is looking for a team member who is responsible for performing quality-oriented tasks associated with inspection to ensure aircraft engine parts, sub-assemblies, major assemblies, and installations are built to type design and meet the requirements of the Quality Management System. Note: Responsibilities may include the training and certifications required to support future non-destructive testing capability.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Performs a variety of visual inspections, including visual inspection for surface defect of metallic parts, composite parts, and welds, and perforation inspection and light leak inspection of laser drilled holes.
  • Performs basic dimensional inspection layouts using, height gages, calipers, micrometers, pin gages, and other basic measurement equipment.
  • Performs inspections using surface roughness and profile measurement equipment.
  • Operates CMM and other inspection equipment using pre-defined programs and work instructions.
  • Performs inspection duties utilizing engineering drawings and orders, route cards, inspection travelers, technical specifications, QA procedures and instructions and other related documents. Performs review of supplier-provided paperwork to ensure documentation is correct.
  • Potential to take photographs of engines and parts to document condition.
  • Evaluates and documents results of inspections
  • Assists with identifying causes of rejects
  • Assists with performing first-piece inspections and prepares first article documentation.
  • Provide feedback to engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers as required.


Qualifications

Education, Experience, Knowledge & Specific Skills:

Education/Experience:



  • Minimum of three (3) years of inspection or quality experience, with aerospace experience a plus
  • Part 65 Powerplant mechanic's license a plus
  • Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) experience, and familiarity with CMM software such as Zeiss Calypso or FARO CAM2 a plus
  • Nondestructive inspection experience with penetrant inspection or ultrasonic inspection a plus



Knowledge:



  • Possess a knowledge and understanding of tooling, gauges, specifications, procedures
  • Moderate knowledge and understanding of industrial manufacturing processes and techniques
  • Blueprint reading skills for interpretation of drawings, notes, revisions, GD&T, tolerances and symbols a plus



Job Related Specific Skills:



  • Moderate knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel and ERP/MRP systems
  • Demonstrates strong communication and customer (both internal and external) interface skills
  • Ability to work and interact with departments throughout and external to the organization
  • Ability to work alone or in a team environment with instructions
  • Conscientious and excellent attention to detail



Physical Requirements/Work Conditions:



  • Climate-controlled laboratory environment precision measurement
  • Jet engine assembly and test cell environment
  • The performance of this position routinely requires exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, mandatory hearing protection, and safety shoes
  • This position requires 20/20 corrected vision and ability to accurately see all colors
  • This position will be enrolled in an FAA Part 120 Anti-Drug and Alcohol Misuse Program
