We are seeking an energetic and well-organized Laboratory Manager to support Dr. Vamsi Mootha's Lab which is dual localized at Massachusetts General Hospital and The Broad Institute. The Mootha Lab focuses on mitochondria - ancient "powerhouses" critical for energy homeostasis - using a multidisciplinary approach that combines modern genomics, computation, and classical biochemical physiology. The laboratory is highly focused on basic research, with the full expectation that the results will be highly informative to a variety of diseases spanning rare, inborn errors of metabolism to neurodegeneration. This position sits at the intersection of science and administration - we are targeting candidates with an aptitude and passion for lab administration, as well as an interest and background in benchwork. This role will provide the opportunity to have a direct impact on the science being conducted in the lab, through careful and thorough management of lab resources and a keen eye for process improvement. We are ideally targeting candidates that are seeking a long-term, stable position who are passionate about day-to-day operations of the lab, and interested in basic and disease research. This role is a pivotal part of an exciting, friendly, and fast-paced lab; composed of a fun and diverse mix of college students, graduate students, postdoctoral associates, physician scientists, and research staff. Physical Requirements Remaining in a normal seated or standing position for extended periods of time; reaching and grasping by extending hand(s) or arm(s); dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers, for example using a keyboard; communication skills using the spoken word; ability to see and hear within normal parameters; ability to move about workspace.
