Senior Project Manager, Global Clinical Operations

The Sr. Project Manager, Global Clinical Operations (Sr. PM) is responsible for supporting the strategic alignment, planning, and execution of clinical projects, collaborating with cross-functional study teams to progress the Global Clinical Operations (GCO) clinical trial portfolio.

The Sr. PM provides project management and operational support for clinical programs, ensuring accurate plans/forecasts, timelines, documentation, and coordinated execution across all teams.

The Sr. PM works closely with cross-functional stakeholders, ensuring full organizational alignment with GCO deliverables and strategic initiatives, including for process development and improvement.

This is a full-time, remote-based position reporting to the Director, Clinical Operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Drive collaboration within a cross-functional matrix environment to support the GCO strategy and execution of high quality and timely deliverables
  • Partner with strategic planning teams and GCO leadership to coach projects through stage-gating governance process to project initiation
  • Work with study teams to develop, maintain, and align an accurate, integrated project timeline, resource plan, and budget
  • In collaboration with study teams, develop forecasts, understand critical path activities, anticipate risks, and support the creation of contingency plans
  • Oversee project timeline and study performance, escalating where appropriate; track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) relative to projected targets
  • Support strategic vendor relationships, assisting in vendor oversight, performance management, and issue resolution
  • Prepare periodic project reports and summaries on project status for internal stakeholders, including senior management
  • Facilitate the communication of portfolio status, including risks and issues, with the respective stakeholders in a transparent and timely manner
  • Support the management and tracking of project budgets in partnership with finance and study teams
  • Coordinate GCO process development and improvement initiatives to ensure optimal roles/responsibilities, processes, and technology
  • Drive implementation of standardized processes and tools to drive efficiency; Maintain GCO repository of tools and best practices
  • Develop operational presentations and materials
  • Support GCO annual strategic planning and budgeting
  • Support and track progress on defined Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and department goals
  • Manage GCO shared drive, including user access/permissions and standard folder structure
  • Assist in the planning and execution of virtual and face to face GCO meetings
  • May support quality audits and regulatory authority inspections, acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Train and mentor other GCO personnel, providing leadership oversight and motivation
  • Other related duties, as assigned



QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE:

Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent work experience, preferably in Life Sciences required
  • Advanced degree or relevant professional certifications (i.e. PMP, Six Sigma) preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years clinical research industry experience
  • Minimum of 4 years project management experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CRO environment required
  • Proficiency in project and portfolio management tools and applications, such as MS Project and Smartsheet, required
  • Trial management experience preferred
  • Oncology experience preferred



Knowledge:



  • Advanced knowledge of the pharmaceutical/device commercialization process, applicable standards, and regulatory guidelines (ISO, ICH-GCP, MDR etc.)
  • Adept in all phases of project management (initiation to closure)
  • Advanced working knowledge and application of project management tools, including schedules, operational and communication plans, resource plans, scope management tools, and action item trackers.
  • Advanced computer skills, including advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Project, CRM Databases, SAP
  • Strong ability to analyze and interpret data and prepare evaluative summary reports
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills with strong attention to detail, precision, and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, providing clear, concise, timely, and relevant information
  • Strong ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously, proactively problem-solve, and manage competing priorities
  • Strong ability to meet rigorous timelines and work effectively and efficiently
  • Advanced ability to work well in a team as well as independently with limited oversight; is self-motivated and results-driven
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex challenges using critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, especially in areas of communication and change management
