Director, Commercial Legal & Head of AMER West and APJ

As PagerDuty prepares for its next phase of growth, the Commercial Legal team has an immediate opening for an outstanding leader with a strong technology background and experience in SaaS transactional work. Your team will be responsible for all revenue transactions requiring legal support in PagerDuty's Americas (West) and Asia-Pacific regions, including customer and partner agreements. You will manage a team and help to drive revenue and scale the organization.

This position will report to our VP and Deputy General Counsel and it is fully remote on the West Coast with some business travel, as needed

How You Impact Our Vision



  • Negotiate and close customer and partner agreements in the Americas (West) and Asia-Pacific regions. You are a trusted advisor to the business teams and provide guidance on strategic matters and deals in the region. Full ownership and oversight of customer and partner contract negotiations in the Americas (West) and Asia-Pacific region (including Japan), making significant decisions regarding legal and compliance risks in PagerDuty's fast-moving environment.
  • Lead a small team of legal professionals providing active guidance, coaching and mentorship to drive the team's success, as well as their career development
  • Identify opportunities to scale, design and implement processes, procedures and tools to improve the efficiency and speed of customer and partner contracting.
  • Participate in the definition and development of customer and partner contract templates, policies, procedures and programs, and providing related legal function templates and training.
  • Closely align with global Sales leaders providing collaborative consultation to drive revenue and achieve business results
  • Collaborate effectively with customers, partners and vendors on contract negotiations, enabling business success.


Minimum Qualifications



  • An advanced career or expert attorney with exceptional academic and in-house and/or law firm credentials. Admitted into and in good standing with the bar of a U.S. state (excluding Louisiana). If not a member of the California bar, should have material demonstrated experience contracting under California law or other demonstrated familiarity with California law.
  • 10+ years of technology transactional experience, including within a law firm -- drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising on a variety of customer and partner transactions such as subscription, SaaS reseller, OEM, strategic partnerships and consulting partnerships.
  • Operational experience with contract lifecycle systems, processes, procedures, and tools.



The base salary range for this position is 185,000 - 283,000 USD. This role may also be eligible for bonus, commission, equity, and benefits.

Our base salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range, which is subject to change based on primary work location, reflects the minimum and maximum base salary we expect to pay newly hired employees for the position. Within the range, we determine pay for an individual based on a number of factors including market location, job-related knowledge, skills/competencies and experience.
