Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Patient Escort *FT 3:00PM-11:00PM Monday-Friday; Alternating Weekends.

In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for the safe, sanitary and efficient movement of patients and specific equipment to and from clinical, ancillary, diagnostic or support service areas, in accordance with established procedures. Monitors and interacts with patients during the transport to ensure safety, well-being, comfort and confidentiality. Throughout the shift, there will be various degrees of standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling. Work with a team in a high volume, fast paced environment. Perform other duties will be as directed.

Job Responsibilities:




    • Completes patient move as assigned- to the correct destination
    • Communicates effectively with Nursing and Test Area Techs, upon arrival and before departing with patient
    • Follow proper standard precaution procedures; hand washing and disinfect equipment before and after each transport. Personal Protective Equipment (gloves, mask, gown, goggles, etc.) should be worn with isolation patients.
    • Communicate effectively the status of the patient transport e.g. delay starts and ends, cancellation, patient in transit, and completion using the proper radio codes.
    • Responds in a timely manner when contacted by dispatcher via 2-way radio.
    • Swipes in / out through Kronos at assigned locations, using department approved procedures
    • Maintains level of productivity.
    • Routinely demonstrates safe handling of patients. Operate all equipment (stretcher, wheelchair, bed & mod-chair) properly and safely. Check the equipment before use to ensure proper function. Always remain focus on the patient throughout the transport.
    • Maintain patient confidentiality by placing the patient's chart in a proper place and do not discuss patient information in any public areas.
    • Interacts with the patient throughout the patient move, while keeping the patient informed.
    • Checks all identifiers before moving patients. Insuring that the following information matches: text on 2-way radio, Patient ID Band (name & medical records number) and Patient's Chart.
    • When arriving at room or holding area, greets patient, introduce yourself and explain to patient what's about to occur.
    • Arrive on time at start of shift, in uniform and with ID Badge visible on shirt pocket. Adheres to Patient Escort's uniform Code throughout shift.
    • Return equipment to the designated areas.


Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School Diploma Required.
2+ years relevant preferred
High levels of proficiency in all areas of communication skills, customer service skills, patient care skills and detail oriented.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $41,024.45 - $43,326.38 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
