The purpose and function of the Cost Specialist IV position is to be a primary contact with the AHM supplier network to ensure parts are purchased at the best possible cost. This role is responsible for the following job functions and working independently with the most complex high impact suppliers, including fabric, including service & campaign kits, North American Honda frame plants and powertrain plants for non-current production, Bill of Material (BOM) / Honda Supply Parts (HSP) parts management, HVAC and safety systems suppliers, contract review and is expected to resolve tier 2 & 3 supplier issues with minimal direction. This position includes the most complex service part suppliers and commodities.

  • Service Part Cost Negotiation (cost avoidance and cost reduction)
  • Buildout (ensuring production of non-current parts
  • Tool & Die Maintenance Cost (tooling, transfers, tools repair reviews/approvals, new tool purchases.
  • Negotiating service parts pricing agreements with suppliers
  • Manage supplier issues and cost changes on all parts. This includes negotiating costs, finding economical, viable solutions together with suppliers, finding alternative suppliers, etc., for most complex suppliers and parts
  • Ensure non-current continuous supply with each buildout model and through the life of part, including tooling transfer management
  • Ensure new model parts have a firm price while targeting SP=MP metrics
  • Ensure correct payment to suppliers/ reconcile accounts through Invoice Balancing system
  • Project management (Lead and or support department projects



Qualifications

We are looking for qualified people and diverse background and experiences, open minds, and a disciplined work ethic, to bring the future to Honda as a Cost Specialist IV you must have:



  • BS/BA Degree in (Business or Engineering Preferred) or equivalent work experience
  • Five plus years of supply chain experience that ensures a solid understanding of supply base, supplier production environment, supplier costing methods and design changes/engineering standards
  • Automotive background preferred but not required
  • Advanced negotiation skills
  • Financial acumen
  • Leadership (Supervisory function over contingent and student positions and mentoring less tenured associates)
  • Advanced communication skills
  • Presentation skills
  • Ability to plan for long term > 3 years
  • Technical skills (e.g drawing interpretation/reading & design changes) are required at the higher level
  • Project management experience
  • Collaboration of different manufacturing processes (casting, machining, stamping, etc.,)
  • Knowledge of the automotive industry a plus
