Job Details Description Our Opportunity Alphia, one of the nation's leading custom pet food manufacturing companies, is looking for a Category Manager - Vitamins, Minerals & Additives (VMA) to join our Strategic Sourcing team. The Category Manager will develop and maintain short and long-term sourcing strategies aligned with Alphia's company-wide governances for all assigned categories. They will deliver a program to secure supply, deliver target savings while meeting the organization's business needs in terms of service and quality. Included is the use of executable contracts, driving improvements and efficiency to the categories, managing supplier relationships, and developing strong working relationships with the plants and vital functional stakeholders to understand and meet their procurement-related business needs. The Procurement Manager role is a remote position with travel as needed. What You’ll Do Developing category sourcing strategies and executable plans, including initiatives for companywide and individual plant purchased ingredients, validating with the Director of Strategic Sourcing and the respective internal key customers Act as the companies Subject Matter Expert for the assign categories, develop and maintain a Market Analysis including global, North America, local supply and demand models, key cost drives, cost correlation models, supplier base capacities Conducting strategic sourcing initiatives, including fact-based negotiations (supplier and industry analysis. benchmarks, cost structure analysis) for all managed sub-categories within the portfolio and ensuring process compliance and high levels of customer satisfaction Defining supplier management strategy, aligning it with the Director of Strategic Sourcing, and executing strategic supplier relationship management with key local suppliers Defining strategy for locally managed sub-categories, including buying channels, content strategy, necessary compliance checks, specific requirements and ensure compliance (through creation and distribution of category cards and internal audits when necessary); aligning P2P strategy with Director of Strategic Sourcing to ensure cross-functional standardization Supporting global strategic sourcing initiatives or projects (including category strategy definition) as authorized by the Director of Strategic Sourcing Identifying supplier risk areas and quantifying risk exposure for regionally and locally managed sub-categories within Category Portfolio and executing risk mitigation actions Support plant operations by resolving continues quality issues through the supplier corrective action process Perform other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary Deliverables & Achievable: Delivering relevant KPI targets (e.g. savings targets through strategic sourcing) for locally managed categories as appropriate to local stakeholder needs What We’re Looking For Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain Management, Economics, Finance Experience: 2-5 years in procurement with vitamins, minerals & additives (VMA) Willing to work in a team environment and contribute to group goals Strong and effective decision-making capacity Experience in agriculture, food or pet food is preferred Must possess strong analytical skill with complex global market dynamics Effective at interpreting complex and multiple sources of information to make decisions Knowledge of Office 365 suite of software Knowledge of industry pricing publications (Urner Barry, The Jacobsen) Strong program and project management skills Improves processes to eliminate non-value adding activities.
