Buckeye Partners is currently seeking an Associate Engineer, Pipeline Integrity with experience in pipeline integrity program management in the Oil & Gas Industry to join our growing team!

Role Summary:

The Associate Engineer, Pipeline Integrity role is an entry-level Engineer role with responsibilities to support the various programs that comprise Buckeye's Pipeline Integrity program. Primarily this will involve supporting the Inline Inspection (ILI) program from assessment planning to data review and analysis.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions include:



  • Pipeline Integrity Program Support

    • Supporting the implementation of Buckeye's Pipeline Integrity Management Programs (IMP), including assessment, repair, and risk management activities
    • Reviewing ILI vendor capabilities and conformance to Buckeye requirements
    • Facilitating ILI assessment planning with ILI vendors and internal stakeholders while maintaining compliance with regulatory deadlines
    • Reviewing ILI reports for quality assurance and actionable information and working with ILI vendors on any revisions


  • Data Management

    • Receiving and reviewing pipeline integrity data from vendors or internal Stakeholders
    • Preparing documentation associated with ILI assessment plans such as line characteristics to confirm ILI tool compatibility
    • Aligning ILI vendor reports with internal data sources for data integration
    • Performing ILI data integration and dig discovery activities




  • Reporting

    • Preparing data in electronic and/or printed format consistent with departmental standards for use by other personnel throughout Buckeye and accurately documenting key decisions and meetings.


  • Department Support

    • Providing support for Asset Integrity Team members.


  • And other duties as assigned.


Position Requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering or related field required.
  • Experience: Typically, 0-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office is required; experience with SQL, FME (or other ETL tool), Python or other programming languages is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory codes relating to pipeline integrity management is helpful.
  • Familiarity with work management system, GIS, ILI software is beneficial.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestically.


Certificates & Licenses:



  • Engineer-in-Training registration is desirable

  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal, as well as strong organizational skills are paramount.
  • In order to be successful in this position, one must have excellent analytical skills to resolve business and operations problems and have good communication skills to consult with users to provide technical assistance.
  • The individual must be well organized with the ability to keep accurate records and provide status updates.


Essential Functions:



  • This position requires the ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and or/quantitative productivity standards.
  • This role requires the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • This position requires compliance with all personnel policies.



Physical & Safety Requirements:



  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.
  • This role continuously operates a computer and other office productivity equipment (i.e. a calculator, copy machine and computer printer).
  • May require walking the pipeline right-of-way.
