Senior Engineer- ETL/BI Developer (REMOTE)

Job Description Summary

GEICO Actuary and Statistical Reporting IT team is seeking an innovative, inspiring, and results-oriented Senior Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate should be an experienced application developer with a strong knowledge of Snowflake, Cloud ETL Tools, DBT, Talend, Fivetran. Microsoft Power BI, and Azure DevOps.. The successful candidate will demonstrate attention to Detail, strategic thinking and Creative mind while working in an agile and collaborative team-oriented environment. The candidate must collaborate various stakeholders ,analysts, developers, DevOps, and architects across multiple teams, and deliver creative solutions to complex problems.

Primary Position Objective:

Under general supervision, DESIGNS and BUILDS high performance, low latency platforms and applications across Business Services, Data, Platform, and Infrastructure Engineering with the ETL Framework in an Agile Environment.

Essential Functions:

SCOPES, DESIGNS, and BUILDS scalable and resilient distributed systems.

ENGAGES in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycle.

LEADS design sessions and code reviews to elevate the quality of engineering across the organization.

UTILIZES programming languages databases (DBT, SQL, Power BI), Container Orchestration services (Docker and Kubernetes), and a variety of Azure tools and services across the Software Development Lifecycle.

EXECUTES Software delivery UTILIZING an Agile environment (Scrum/Kanban/SAFe) for continuous delivery, Infrastructure as code, Powershell scripting, Operation Portals (e.g., Azure Portal) and Monitoring Portals (e.g., Splunk and Application Insights).

BUILDS product definition and LEVERAGES technical skills to determine solution.

MENTORS and SUPPORTS engineers at all junior levels.

SHARES best practices and IMPROVES processes within and across teams.

ADHERES to GEICO Code of Conduct, company policies, and operating principles.

MEETS attendance standard at business location to perform necessary job functions and to facilitate interaction with management and co-workers.

* Must be able to follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts or facilitate conflict resolution, and have strong organization/priority setting skills.

* Must be able to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information and follow processes that have been published.
* Must be knowledgeable of software coding and following standards and processes that have been published and the guidelines for the design.
* Must be able to provide system training to team members as needed.
* Must be able to communicate in a clear, concise, professional oral or written manner, to be understood by customers, clients, co-workers and other employees of the organization.
* Must be able to perform under pressure and stressful situations.
* Must be prepared to be on call for production support 24x7.
* Must be able to concentrate and demonstrate a capacity for learning technical concepts and adapting to new technologies quickly.

Must have:

-Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related field
-6+ years of Software Development with ETL framework, Relational database, Oracle, and Bi Reporting
-2+ Years' experience in Cloud ETL Tools, DBT, Talend, Fivetran
-2+ Experience in Snowflake Data Cloud
-2+ years of experience in BI Reporting tool, Microsoft Power BI
-2+ years of experience with agile methods, developing end-to-end lifecycle software management, integration testing, and CI/CD automation tools
