About the Job

The Cardiovascular Division at the University of Minnesota is recruiting a fulltime, tenure-
track Assistant Professor with expertise in neuromuscular cardiomyopathy to join the
Cardiovascular Heart Failure, Transplantation, and Mechanical Circulatory Support Research
and Clinical Program.

About the Job
The primary role and responsibilities of this position are to develop a multipronged research
program in neuromuscular cardiomyopathy centered on translational research and advanced
heart failure patient care. This position will be 75% research and 25% advanced heart failure
clinical. We seek physician-scientist candidates with expertise in neuromuscular
cardiomyopathy research to develop research and clinical neuromuscular cardiomyopathy
and heart failure programs. They will also be expected to conduct research as Principal
Investigator, maintain a track record of grant-funded research, author manuscripts for peer-
reviewed journals, and develop collaborations. Responsibilities of this position also include
mentorship of trainees.

Qualifications

Qualifications
Applicants must be board certified in advanced heart failure and transplantation, have
experience in neuromuscular cardiomyopathy, and a background in basic and translational
science. Specific requirements for the position are:
1. Previous training in neuromuscular cardiomyopathy and stem cell biology with a MD or
MD/PhD or equivalent;
2. Research experience in neuromuscular cardiomyopathy;
3. Demonstrated history of successful external research funding or evidence of potential for
obtaining external research funding;
4. Evidence of a publication record in relevant peer-reviewed journals;
5. Board certified in Advanced Heart Failure and have a Minnesota medical license.
