As part of our Individual and Family Plan (IFP) business, we are creating a new business and set of products to serve a diverse set of members and our state and federal partners across our portfolio.

This new opportunity and role will be a key part of our Product Strategy team, helping set, develop and analyze national level strategies to ensure IFP's success and achievement of growth goals. This person must be a motivated self-starter with a solid attention to detail who is able to work both independently and collaboratively, be comfortable with ambiguity, establish effective working relationships across different teams, and have a positive attitude. This role requires creativity, flexibility, agility, and the ability to adapt to change while maintaining solid relationships with stakeholders in a highly cross-matrixed environment.

This position within the IFP Product Strategy team will work in a fast-paced environment and have multiple responsibilities working cross functionally with internal partners and external stakeholders/vendors to develop and implement national and market-focused product strategies. In particular, this position will be focused on developing strategies for our core medical benefits, and leading our partnerships in the areas of dental, vision and other ancillaries.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Provide leadership and is accountable for execution and program management of Product strategies and performance
  • Collaborate with others to drive YoY and ongoing improvement among existing programs / strategies
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure accuracy of product strategies in communication and other areas (e.g., sales, marketing)
  • Identify new strategic partners / vendors and lead RFI, vendor selection and contracting processes
  • Achieve or exceed product growth and profitability initiatives
  • Predict emerging consumer needs and develops innovative solutions to meet them
  • Understand key competitor product strategies and profitability drivers
  • Think strategically and creatively, translating a vision to processes and product requirements
  • Manage cross-segment projects and initiatives that require problem solving, relationship building, influencing and analyzing

Required Qualifications:



  • Undergraduate degree
  • 4+ years of healthcare experience
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in product strategy, product development and / or implementation, through addressing consumer segment needs and competitive positioning
  • Strategy and Finance experience
  • Proficiency in product financial performance
  • Proficient in interpreting and analyzing data to support decision-making on pricing
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Analytical skills and ability to review data and make fact-based decisions and / or recommendations


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Advanced degree in business or public health
  • Individual Market, Medicaid, or Commercial insurance experience with knowledge of state & federal regulatory requirements
  • Solid communication skills (persuasive written, oral, and presentation skills) including leading discussions with Line of Business and Market leaders
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with the urgency to drive work forward
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes in work direction and able to pivot work accordingly
  • Ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and influence others to drive timely decisions


Required Competencies:



  • Focused execution on improving Consumer Experience, reducing cost to help drive growth, measuring progress and results
  • This is a highly visible role and requires excellent communication skills and attention to details.

Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, or New York City Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $97,300 to $176,900. The salary range for Connecticut/Nevada/New York City residents is $97,300 to $176,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
