LEAD NURSE PRACTITIONER OR CERTIFIED NURSE MIDWIFE

This is an excellent opportunity for a Lead Nurse Practitioner/Certified Nurse Midwife (32-40 hrs/wk).
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Lead Clinician is responsible for the planning and administration of quality health care in the reproductive and health setting. The Lead Clinician works in conjunction with the Regional Director of Operations to ensure that high quality care is delivered in a customer service driven environment. The Lead Clinician works collaboratively with physicians, other clinicians, and ancillary staff.
In collaboration with the Associate Director of Clinical Services, the Lead Clinician assists in creating, maintaining and monitoring quality medical standards and systems for the health centers and works to train clinicians and other health center staff in the implementation of current and new medical services. The position provides improved delivery of patient care by strengthening the training, orientation and monitoring of licensed and unlicensed staff in the region. Serves as a clinical resource for other medical staff throughout the agency.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
* The Lead Clinician must have a current license as a Registered Nurse by the State of Wisconsin, and be certified by a national credentialing body as nurse practitioner or nurse midwife (i.e. NCC, ANCC, AMCB, ACNM). Master's degree in nursing or related health field required.
* Minimum of two (2) years' work experience as a clinician, with experience in family planning, women's health or an OB/GYN setting required.
* One year (1) experience as a clinician with PPWI or other Planned Parenthood affiliate preferred.
Current CPR certification required.

Extensive standing, walking, reaching, frequent sitting, grasping manipulation of equipment, utilization of fine finger movements, occasional kneeling, crouching, squatting, twisting, and climbing. Requires the ability to operate medical equipment. Ability to see objects closely and discriminate colors, hear sounds with some background noise, write legibly and the ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The position is generally performed in a medical office environment but involves frequent interruptions. The noise level is generally low to quiet. The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. Will work with blood or blood-borne pathogens and will require OSHA training which will include extensive safety precautions and the use of protective equipment.
This position requires travel statewide, therefore a valid driver's license and auto insurance in accordance with agency liability standards will be required.
Evening and/or weekend hours are required. Must be available by cell phone.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES including, but not limited to, the following:
  • Lead Clinician Duties
  • Assist the Associate Director of Clinical Services in ensuring PPWI is in compliance with oversight bodies such as the board of nursing, PPFA, CDC, CLIA and Medicaid.
  • Contributes towards the development of protocols, patient education materials, policies and procedures in compliance with PPFA, CDC, Medicaid and other regulatory or funding program requirements. Participates and supports site visits of regulatory agencies.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of changes to clinical practice based on results of audits and other quality assessment tools and evidence-based guidelines.
  • Provides clinical support to the Center Managers and Regional Directors, to create a team approach in managing clinical and non-clinical staff in maximizing operational efficiency to meet health center benchmarks and provide both patient and staff satisfaction.
  • Participates in the interviewing, hiring, orientation and training of clinicians.
  • In collaboration with Center Managers, participates in the performance evaluations of clinicians and registered nurses. Participates in developing performance improvement plans for clinicians as needed working closely with the Center Manager.
  • Participates in the ongoing management of electronic medical records.
  • Provides consultation by being on-call to all health center staff regarding protocol and medical management of patients.
  • Works as a clinician on a regular basis in health centers, telemedicine and centralized follow-up to maintain skill level and knowledge. This is in accordance with the clinician job description.
  • Participates in agency wide quality assurance and risk management program.
  • Identifies training needs and participates in planning and implementation of training programs, such as EHR updates, staff continuing education and updates to the MS&G's.
  • Assists with new service implementation in terms of protocols, trainings, competencies and workflows.
  • Provides general supervision for designated health centers.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.
