DESCRIPTION

The 8th floor at Hillcrest Medical Center treats a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions such as tuberculosis infection, COPD, sickle-cell crisis, cellulitis and diabetes. Nurses on this unit often have the opportunity to become well-versed in the treatment of liver and kidney diseases, COPD, diabetes and other chronic medical conditions. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.

  • RN license issued by the State of California.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Minimum one (1) year of acute care experience at the Telemetry level of care or higher. If there is an insufficient candidate pool, will consider candidates with a minimum of two (2) years of acute care or psych RN experience.

  • Demonstrates critical nursing thinking and clinical skills to identify and implement nursing interventions and evaluate results.

  • Must have excellent skills to communicate and influence effectively with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, and external constituents, both verbally and in writing.

  • Demonstrated de-escalation skills with vulnerable and/or psychiatric patient populations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • BSN/MSN.
  • One to two (1 - 2) years of acute care PCU RN experience.
  • Previous experience with psych patients and/or Crisis Prevention Training.
  • Bilingual: English/Spanish.
  • Participation in shared governance committees or equivalent.
  • Specialty nurse certification.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • This position will be required to work 4 weekend days per month.

  • Selected candidates may be hired at the CNIII or CNIV level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $116,886 - $163,825 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $55.98 - $78.46

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).

Job offer is contingent on successful engagement in the UC COVID-19 Vaccination program (fully vaccinated with documented proof or approved exception/deferral).

If applicable, life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment; online-only certification is not acceptable.
