Description

Start your higher education publishing career at Macmillan. We are passionate about creating great learning tools and resources for students, and we are looking for an editorial assistant in our Economics group who shares our passion for learning and higher education.

The Editorial Assistant will provide support to the Economics editorial team which develops content for the college classroom. The assistant will help with various editorial tasks while gaining exposure to the editorial function within educational publishing.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Assist editors with project planning and editorial development, as well as sales, marketing, and market development research and support.
  • Recruit, communicate with, and help coordinate review programs and implement surveys in Qualtrics to solicit feedback on content and new resources.
  • Correspond with authors, instructors, and sales representatives.
  • Format and prepare content for production.
  • Maintain and update data in key editorial systems.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as running reports, processing payments for reviews, focus groups, and vendor invoices, handling sample requests and mailing, and managing files and project logs.
  • Help find solutions and offer support for miscellaneous needs or tasks that arise in the day-to-day work of the editorial team.

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively and professionally with diverse stakeholders across departments
    Strong multi-tasking and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Initiative, curiosity, and follow-through.
  • Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to concentrate and maintain detail-orientation in busy, open office environment.
  • Ability to prioritize projects, meet deadlines, and work independently.
  • Position requires concentrated screen time for long periods as well as multi-tasking; may involve working in an open-office environment.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Internship or work experience with publisher, educational publishing company, or edtech company.
  • Experience working as a teacher, teacher's assistant, or tutor.
  • Experience working in a corporate office or academic office environment.
  • Customer outreach experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience working with shared documents on Google office suite, Adobe Acrobat, and project tracking software such as JIRA.
  • Knowledge of educational technology a plus.



Annual Salary: $42,000.

This position is located in our New York City, NY Office. The role is a hybrid role with 3 days a week in the office.
