Job Title Business Systems Specialist (Remote- NC, SC, VA) Job Description Remote: This position is remote within our NC, SC, VA footprint. Although this position is primarily remote, there are occasional events and meetings that may require you to work on-site at one of our Truliant locations. Purpose of the Job The Business Systems Specialist will act as a liaison and subject matter expert (SME) in the areas of application administration and integration. This role must have a strong working knowledge of business functionalities; is regarded as the SME for multiple key/critical applications and possesses the skills and experience needed to implement an integrated software solution. This individual will work closely with other business systems analysts, business units, application engineering, solution architects, database administrators, information security, infrastructure services, business analysts and project management as needed. This individual provides guidance, training and support for the team of business systems analysts and supports the Director of Enterprise Service Delivery & Development by assuming a leadership role within the department when assigned. In addition, this individual will work in areas of application engineering (administration, requirements, testing & QA, build & release management, vendor management, change management, and system integration). Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Serves as point of contact/SME for critical business applications. Other responsibilities include development, testing, product builds and maintenance of products/services for assigned application(s), planning and coordinating testing and implementation of hot fixes and test database refreshes as well as leading application upgrade planning, management, and implementation efforts involving multiple cross functional teams and vendors to ensure successful upgrade using project management skills. Adheres to change control processes for all applications assigned.
- Designs, debugs, tests and implements modifications and changes to interface, integration and middleware applications software, and legacy or integration systems. Conducts impact analysis of modifications and changes to system and corresponding interfaces working with the internal teams and third-party vendors. Customizes interfaces per business requirements and functional and technical specifications.
- Interfaces with business partners in determining business needs, gathering information, supporting integration testing, scheduling delivery dates, establishing necessary processes and coordinating problem resolution. Completes technical integration specifications. Educates other departments on integration strategy between systems. Works with the architecture team to implement integrated solutions.
- Leads and supervises other business systems analysts' work effort within the department and assigns responsibilities related to day-to-day activities, projects, upgrades, and product builds etc. accordingly.
- Responsible for release build and management planning, defect tracking, quality assurance process to improve application performance and reliability as well as to develop test plans and build test scripts to automate testing across multiple platforms development of test plans
- Performs test engineering efforts (functional, system, regression, testing automation).
- Meets with business units and systems owners to define functional and operational requirements, system goals, identify and resolve systems issues, and acts as a liaison between business units and vendors for the management and resolution of open tickets as well as requests regarding custom solutions, assessments etc.
- Responsible for evaluating enhancements, releases, or new product offerings for the assigned applications and identifying and communicating the business value and/or the operational efficiencies to be gained to the business units.
- Leverages SQL script to troubleshoot and reverse engineer issues.
- Assists with after hours support to engineer the application with business critical updates for products and services.
- Proactively works with the PMO and sponsoring business unit to support the development of the budgeting, scoping, planning and implementation efforts for assigned projects as well as monitor the performance of vendors/service providers to assure quality and service levels are always maintained. Leads corporate projects work effort as assigned.
- Utilizes the vendor client site, focus and advisory groups, and training events to stay informed of all applicable information about assigned core business applications and integration through APIs.
- Responsible for assuring all work effort conforms to the current processes/procedures/policies utilized by the team assigned for ongoing application administration.
- Serves as Level-2 support for any critical business application related issues.
- Responsible for ensuring integrity of systems through upstream and downstream impact as well as system integration impact when implementing a change.
- Maintains detailed documentation for active issues, new processes, updates to existing processes, etc. using tools like Visio and One Note and is responsible for conducting yearly audit for access control across all critical applications administered by the team and working closely with business units to review and resolve any issues
- Adheres to and maintains knowledge in banking compliance standards relative to the products and services supported by the applications they administer

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Must have working knowledge and a demonstrated understanding of all core business applications used within the Credit Union, as well as a current understanding of how the core business applications are configured and are being used by respective business units
- Must have a strong understanding of the functionality of the application(s), the products/services and business processes supported by the application(s)
- Experience in working with SaaS solutions and managing/onboarding new SaaS providers by integrating with internal applications is highly preferred.
- Must understand the definition of the data fields within the application(s) and the application's database structure
- Must understand the security aspects of the application(s) in regards to user access, user roles, imported data, exported data and data storage
- Must have SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) working knowledge
- Must have Agile (Project Management, Change Execution) knowledge
- Must have ability to write and execute complex SQL queries to assist with troubleshooting issues and vendor support
- Must have ability to write and execute testing automation scripts
- Must be proficient in HTML and XML
- Must be knowledgeable in developing and maintaining detailed application administration documentation
- Must have a working knowledge of the compliance standards associated to the products and services supported by assigned application(s)
- Must have ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations exercising flexibility, critical thinking skills and sound judgment in a fast-paced environment
- Must possess a working knowledge of business process mapping and project management
- Must have excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written

Physical Requirements

Education and Background
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field is required; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Must have a t least seven years' experience supporting critical application software (on premise and SaaS) which includes medium to complex troubleshooting, research, ability to read and comprehend technical manuals, and maintain procedural documentation. Experience in the financial services industry or with core systems may be considered in lieu of the experience requirement.
- Working knowledge of the financial industry fundamentals required

- Experience with Fiserv software solutions preferred
- Certification in Business Analysis preferred
- Project management experience preferred
- Must have previous experience working on complex projects through completion
