Responsibilities:


  • Provide excellent customer service to employees, clients, visitors, and vendors.
  • Plans and schedules general maintenance and repairs for designated facilities, systems, or equipment as directed by supervisor.
  • Assist in obtaining quotes for various facility repair maintenance projects.
  • Assists as directed in monitoring and supervising the work of local subcontractors.
  • Responds to maintenance and mechanical emergencies as needed and requested.
  • Insures proper grounds care and maintenance at each facility for professional appearance and presentation.
  • Responsible for prompt and accurate record keeping and reporting. Monitors email for instruction from supervisor, responding promptly to maintenance request and closing out requests in LandPort software once completed.
  • Adheres to federal, state, and local laws and regulations that apply to non-profit organizations as they apply to day-to-day operations.
  • Adheres to agency safety policies and procedures.
  • Attends conferences, seminars, and meetings to increase general knowledge and personal growth as requested by supervisor.
  • Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested for successful completion of the mission of GIV.
  • Must be willing and able to work additional hours, if necessary, to accomplish the responsibilities of this position.

General:


  • Thorough knowledge of building maintenance and repair practices, including effective safety practices, standards, and techniques pertaining to facility maintenance operations. Considerable knowledge of plumbing, and electrical preferred.
  • Ability to develop and adhere to schedules; concurrently manage a wide variety of projects; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Application of concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables and situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • May be required to work after hours and holidays.
  • Must be able to travel on an as-needed basis, staying overnight if required.

Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of five years facility maintenance experience.
  • Considerable knowledge of plumbing systems required.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to provide proof of insurance is required to drive personal vehicle on company business. Additionally, an acceptable motor vehicle record based on Goodwill guidelines is required to drive a company vehicle or transport program participants.

Training and Experience:


  • Successful completion of Goodwill training programs within the required period upon employment, covering various areas including orientation, compliance, emergency preparedness, and safety procedures.

Physical Requirements:


  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crawl, and hear effectively.
  • Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjustment ability.
  • Capability to lift and/or move over 50 pounds.
  • Occasional exposure to wet and humid conditions, outdoor weather extremes, moving mechanical parts, high places, fumes, airborne particles, and occasional risk of electrical shock.
  • Comfortable and experienced working at heights using ladders and lifts.
