Description
We are seeking a staff scientist to join the Fabbri Lab. Research projects will focus on the role of microRNAs and other non-coding RNAs in the tumor microenvironment (TME). We study how non-coding RNAs in extracellular vesicles affect cancer biology and how this knowledge can lead to to develop new anti-cancer therapies through CRISPR-drug screening. Candidates are expected to be familiar with the following techniques: cell culture, transfections, cloning, DNA and RNA isolation, immunoblotting, PCR, real-time PCR, MTT assays, cytofluorimetry, CRISPR gene editing. In vivo experience with cancer mouse models (xenografts or orthotopic models) is required. Knowledge of statistics for data analysis and interpretation is desirable. Candidates should be able to design and execute laboratory experiments, interpret experimental results, work well in a team environment, contribute to weekly lab meetings, and present data in a clear and concise manner. The Staff Scientist III position is a senior role requiring a PhD degree and reporting to a principal investigator or CNRI center director. This position requires a high level of professionalism and expertise and will serve in several roles in the research center depending on the scientific specialty and the needs of the laboratory. The Staff Scientist III creates opportunities to enhance technical methodology or content through the expansion of existing or development of new efforts, and may extend technology into new application areas. The Staff Scientist III supervises junior scientists, graduate students and technicians and works independently or with technical guidance from the principal investigator. Qualifications
Minimum Education
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) (Required) Minimum Work Experience 8 years Progressive specialized experience in a field of research (Required) Required Skills/Knowledge Experience must demonstrate that the applicant has acquired the scientific knowledge, skills and abilities to apply and utilize successfully in independent health or health-related research appropriate to the position. Comprehensive knowledge of a particular field and the ability to apply that knowledge to the completion of complex assignments.
