The Polysom Tech RPSGT will support the Center for Sleep Medicine at VCU Health Stony Point campus. This is a full-time position with hours Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. If you are an experienced RPSGT and interested in joining a fantastic team we would love to speak with you!
The Polysom Tech (Reg) provides safe, reliable, diagnostic sleep testing and effective respiratory care as an advanced practitioner for neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations, in accordance to discipline training level, Clinical Practice Guidelines, hospital standards, guidelines and protocols, as well as to serve as a sleep medicine technical resource and educator for patients, caregivers, hospital staff and students, and can function as a shift team leader in the absence of the supervisor.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: Current AHA BLS Certification Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
Current licensure with the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Polysomnographic Technologist (to be obtained within 18 months of hire)
Satisfy the requirements for one of the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT)
Examination eligibility pathways during the first 18 months of hire.
RPSGT Pathway 2: Healthcare Credential. For candidates or soon-to-be graduates working in the field with at least 546 hours of clinical experience, who have another healthcare credential.
RPSGT Pathway 4: Focused Training. For candidates working in the field with at least 819 hours of clinical experience, who have completed STAR-designated Focused education, or a combination of Self Study and Focused 2 education.

At least one (1) year of work experience in a health care setting.
Experience that has satisfied the eligibility requirements for the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) Education/training REQUIRED:

All entry-level trainees must identify themselves to patients as a student or trainee in polysomnographic technology in accordance with Virginia state law.
Assists with the completion all independent actions listed for the Licensed: RPSGT (no RRT) under the direct oversight and training of a licensed, RPSGT credentialed sleep technologist as training and competency permit.
