Job Description

Sellers & Associates, LLC (S&A) is seeking aLegislative Analystto work on our client's site inWashington, DC. Navy Yard.Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in advising senior leaders on defense policy and appropriation matters and track funding and language impacts on Navy programs and policies. and act as the SMEfor defense policy and appropriation matters. You will have ability to produce written documents for senior officials including briefing materials, legislative summaries, background papers and correspondence


Job Responsibilities

  • Your role as a Legislative Analyst will be to advisingsenior leaders on defense policy and appropriation matters and track funding and language impacts on Navy programs and policies.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for defense policy and appropriation matters.
  • Advise senior leaders on the status of legislation, topics of interest, and impact to Navy programs and policies.
  • Produce written documents for senior officials including briefing materials, legislative summaries, background papers and correspondence
  • Ability to produce written documents for senior officials including briefing materials, legislative summaries, background papers and correspondence
  • Develop tracking mechanisms to identify and document funding and language impacts to Navy programs.

Job Requirements
Job Requirements

  • 7+ years' experience analyzing and writing on federal congressional actions.
  • 5+ years of experience in defense acquisition
  • Strong understanding of the enactment process for defense authorization and appropriation legislation
  • Working knowledge of the Navy's PPBE process
  • Ability to review and analyze defense legislation for potential impacts to Navy programs and initiatives.
  • Familiarity with NAVSEA programs and initiatives
  • Ability to produce briefing materials, legislative summaries, background papers and correspondence.


Nice To Have

  • Familiarity with NAVSEA programs and initiatives
  • 5+ years' experience in defense acquisition.


Must Have

  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science or related field
