Job Summary:
The School of Computer, Data & Information Sciences (CDIS) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is in the midst of a multi-year effort to build excellence in computing and data ethics across its three constituent departments of Computer Sciences, the Information School, and Statistics. This position will be an academic nine-month, tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level to begin in August 2024. The tenure home will be one of the above three departments, and it will be determined at the time of hire based on the selected candidate's qualifications and interests. Candidates may state departmental preferences in their cover letters but are not required to do so. Further information regarding this initiative can be found at: https://facstaff.provost.wisc.edu/cluster-hiring-initiative/ Responsibilities: Faculty responsibilities include research and publication, teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses, student advising (both master's and PhD), and service. The successful candidate will conduct scholarly research resulting in publications in high-quality peer-reviewed scholarly venues, acquire external funding to support research and graduate students, and design and teach bachelor's, master's, and doctoral level courses (both online and in person). The candidate will be committed to service within the department, university, and profession appropriate to faculty rank. The successful candidate, as a member of the College of L&S, will proactively contribute to, support, and advance the college's commitment to diversity among all aspects of their teaching, research, and service. It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
