We have an exciting opportunity for a Client Service Manager (CSM) with a demonstrated background in business development, client relations, and delivery of water, wastewater, and stormwater engineering projects. BC has established a Technology Market Sector in its Private Sector Business Unit to support clients across the United States that is consistently expanding in market share. This position will serve as a key leadership team member in supporting our existing clients and executing growth plans for technology clients. In this capacity, you will have responsibilities including overseeing sales, client development, client relationship management, professional engineering services proposal writing and contract scope, schedule and price preparation, and client service team leadership.

Detailed Description:

In this position, you will work closely with the Technology Market Sector Lead (MSL)and Distribution Market Area leadership, to help lead the development and execution of the Technology Market Sector business plan and support sales and business operations for the market area. Responsibilities include client portfolio management, initiative management and project delivery oversight. You will demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with other leaders in the best interest of our company. You will also foster the BC Experience for the clients and business partners in the technology market, by modeling behavior that reflects BC values. Detailed duties include the following:



  • Work with Technology MSL to develop, communicate, and deliver client focused business plans that support overall Company objectives.
  • Grow our business by developing high-value client relationships, while representing BC with key clients and teaming partners. Ensures quality client services, clarity on work products, and delivery of high-quality services within budget and schedule constraints.
  • Connect with the business units, enterprise groups, and corporate groups as necessary to bring the right resources to bear on client projects.
  • Meet identified performance metrics including annual sales goals and contribution margin.
  • Create client engagement strategies and pursuit plans, actively leading in key opportunity proposal strategy, positioning, teaming, messaging and interview development by partnering with Technology MSL and the marketing team.
  • Manage company risk by ensuring compliance with the Company Risk Policies.
  • Model BC values to our employees and clients.
  • Communicate and model BC Safety standards to all BC employees.
  • Engage and cultivate client service teams to support understanding and delivering on client needs and expectations.
  • Serve as project manager or senior technical resource for key clients. Manage multi-disciplinary resources to deliver projects on schedule and budget and according to client critical success factors.
  • Utilize internal systems for communication, tracking and collaboration on projects and opportunities.
  • Support development of staff members, especially as it relates to exceptional client service delivery, strategic planning, and effective communication.
  • Leverage resources, experience and skills of the firm to support client goals.
  • Participate in professional societies, creating connections for BC and technical professionals in support of client goals.


Desired Skills and Experience:



  • B.S. degree in related engineering field (Civil, Chemical, Environmental etc.) required; M.S. degree in related engineering field with a focus on wastewater and water or M.B.A preferred
  • Exhibits leadership core competencies (emotional intelligence, communication, teamwork, problem solving, interpersonal skills, business acumen, etc.)
  • Minimum of 10 years of increasingly responsible experience in the environmental consulting, engineering, construction and operations industry is required; 15 or more is preferred.
  • Experience with water/wastewater design, planning and studies along with leadership on projects
  • Willingness to champion the use of BC standard tools and processes
  • Ability to successfully manage clients in a collaborative fashion and interface with Brown and Caldwell's local, regional, and national water and wastewater practitioners as well as help mentor junior staff
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, lead strong project teams meeting project requirements, and provide strong business growth results in management roles.
  • Proven understanding of environmental and regulatory drivers for clients and projects.
  • Self-starter, results-oriented and be able to work under tight deadlines
  • Successful marketing, proposal writing, proposal management
  • Proven technical skills with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts both visually and contextually are required.
  • Ability to motivate others and lead teams to implement plans for projects and client pursuits.
  • Ability to travel to visit clients and to attend out-of-town business meetings, as required
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required


Salary Range:Theanticipatedstarting payrange for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and maybemore or lessdependingupon skills, experience,and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Salary: $140,000- $191,000
