The Position

The Membership Engagement Specialist will enhance the member experience from initial interest to full membership engagement. This role involves regular evaluation and improvement of the join process, creating and implementing personalized onboarding experiences, and proactive recruitment strategies for reaching both local and virtual new members. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be highly organized, have previous experience with a membership association, and possess a strong ability to collaborate with various teams.

Salary Range for this role is $56,500 - $70,500 per year.

Main Responsibilities:



  • Develop and implement recruitment outreach strategies to increase association membership.
  • Regularly audit the membership join process to identify and resolve any barriers to entry.
  • Implement enhancements to streamline and improve the member registration experience.
  • Create and implement a customized new member onboarding experience utilizing diverse content and resources.
  • Develop and host engaging webinars for new members to introduce them to the organization's offerings and benefits.
  • Establish and manage an ambassador's program to engage current members in promoting membership benefits.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to package membership options with their offerings, ensuring a cohesive and appealing proposal for potential members.


  • Implement a referral program involving current member leaders to incentivize word-of-mouth recruitment.


  • Research and leverage other associations' sponsorship and media opportunities to increase awareness and attract new members.
  • Create and update collateral materials for volunteers to promote membership effectively.
  • Adhere to ASQ Competencies: Trust, Accountability, Collaboration, and Transparency
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.


Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

Candidates located in Wisconsin: Hybrid Office Environment with 2+ days in office at the Milwaukee Headquarters location.

Candidates in the states of FL, IA, IL, IN, LA, MI, MN, MO, NC, NJ, NM, PA, and VA will also be considered for this role and will be 100% Remote.

Bring Your Best: Position Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years of member recruitment and engagement experience within the membership, association, or related field, or equivalent combination. Must be able to comply with attendance and timeliness policies.

The Location

ASQ is conveniently situated in downtown Milwaukee, immediately adjacent to major freeway exits and the robust downtown economy. The Avenue MKE and Riverwalk access provides our employees easy indoor and outdoor access to shopping, restaurants, and coffee shops. Our office space is in a historic building incorporating newly designed workstations, an option for sit/stand desks, and community and collaboration space. We also offer a hybrid work environment that offers staff the option of working from home up to 3 days per week. Although hybrid is preferred, remote candidates will be considered.
