Hourly Pay Up To: $25.00 per hour

Schedule: Full-Time 8:00am - 4:00pm - may vary on occasion

Essential Position Duties



  • Manages employee performance by coaching, counseling, motivating, and evaluating employees on a continual basis. Implement disciplinary action as needed and in consultation with Phlebotomy Director and Human Resources.
  • Manages the employee hiring process including developing and updating job descriptions, developing performance expectations, identifying essential functions and knowledge, skills and abilities required for applicable positions. Participates in the interview and selection process of phlebotomist employees.
  • Supervises employee and team performance, new employee orientation processes, employee training and continuing education.
  • Coordinates the work of phlebotomist in the field to assure that production is consistent and service levels are maintained. Plays an important role in the dissemination of information to employees.
  • Implements the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for phlebotomy services in accordance with TridentCare guidelines and distributes information to phlebotomists as needed.
  • Provides leadership and supervises assigned department, makes decisions, solves problems, assists in developing procedures, conducts and attends meetings.
  • Communicates promptly and efficiently with management and sales regarding client questions, concerns and complaints
  • Ensures that phlebotomy supply and specimen drop off area is always neat and organized
  • Monitor phlebotomy supplies and prepare order for management's approval as necessary
  • Performs site visits as assigned, and document findings. Assists with QA (quality assurance) audits.
  • Ensures effective employee relations by sustaining an ethical, non-discriminatory and safe work environment while concurrently establishing effective communication lines and methods. Identify and solve employee problems, manage conflict, and respond to grievances as needed.
  • Maintains and determines usage of department supplies and inventory.
  • Ensures all field phlebotomy specimens are collected accurately and on time.
  • Fills in to provide coverage for phlebotomists at varying locations as needed.
  • Maintains required records and documentation.
  • Reviews and approves schedules with minimal overtime for employees and floaters.
  • Reviews and approves time/attendance entry of employees.
  • Assist with compilation of monthly statistics and data.
  • Demonstrates organizational commitment.
  • Approves time in attendance software by 10 a.m. on the Monday following the end of the pay period. Submits accurate expense and phlebotomy daily logs Monday for the week prior or as directed by management.
  • Adheres to departmental and company code of grooming and dress code policies, appearing neat and clean at all times.
  • Utilizes time appropriately. Capable of maintaining fluctuating flow of changes.
  • Displays courteous and professional behavior to clients, patients, and co-workers. Communicates with co-workers and clients in a way that promotes a harmonious and cooperative working environment.
  • Answers the telephone in a friendly and helpful manner, by incorporating the company name, self-identification and a helpful statement.
  • Performs duties in independent manner.
  • Communicates pertinent information/issues to manager for resolution.
  • Contributes to a positive work climate and to the team effort of the department and company.
  • Works in conjunction with phlebotomists and group leaders to accurately conduct periodic inventory counts.
  • Compiles monthly problem requisitions in a timely manner for management
  • Audits mileage verification for Medicare billing missing information
  • Performs scheduling of phlebotomists & assigned routes
  • Update information for new / terminated facilities
  • Adheres to applicable policies and procedures
  • Completes special projects as assigned by Management
  • Follow up on all post exposure, employee & client paperwork, source specimen testing, notifications
  • Hold monthly meetings with Mobile Phlebotomy staff
  • Follow up on urgent concerns from Mobile Phlebotomist in a timely manner. Report issues to Management
  • Maintains procedure manual and makes changes as approved by Management
  • Performs all duties in compliance with established safety and OSHA guidelines
  • Adheres to established HIPAA confidentiality standards of patient, client, facilities and U.S. Laboratories policies and procedures
  • Monitor vehicles maintenance and cleanliness
  • Performs all other tasks or duties as assigned


Compliance Responsibilities



  • Complies with applicable legal requirements, standards, and procedures including, but not limited to, those within the Compliance Process, Code of Conduct, HIPAA and Corporate Integrity Agreement (CIA).
  • Participates in required orientation, Compliance and HIPAA training programs.
  • Reports concerns and suspected incidences of non-compliance using the 4-Step Reporting Process.
  • Cooperates with monitoring and audit functions and investigations.
  • Participates, as requested, in process improvement responsibilities.


POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Core Competencies/Skill Sets



  • Proficient in computer skills including spreadsheets, word processing and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational skills, an ability to prioritize task, and meet deadlines established
  • Proficient in written/verbal skills in English language.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal orders.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationship with patients, clients and management.
  • Ability to take direction and conduct self in a professional manner.
  • Knowledge of medical laboratory operations.
  • Proficient in phlebotomy procedures, techniques and skills


Professional Experience/Educational Requirements



  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Requires a minimum of two years' experience in a position with similar responsibilities.
  • Requires completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program, or adequate phlebotomy experience.
  • Demonstrates clean driving record within existing company policy.
  • Demonstrates current proof of auto insurance coverage.
  • Prior Supervisor Experience strongly preferred.


Certification/Licensure



  • Valid driver's license.
  • National Phlebotomy Certificate preferred. (Provide copies of CEU's received).
