Position Summary

The Department of Pathology at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine is seeking a full-time academic Surgical Pathologist with emphasis on Gynecological and Genitourinary Pathology to join our exceptional faculty. This is an open-rank faculty position. Rank and tenure will be commensurate with the candidate's experience, qualifications, and funding.

This position involves providing expertise in areas of oncologic and non-oncologic surgical pathology, supporting the mission of the Department as well as other clinical departments such as Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Surgical Oncology and The University of Illinois Cancer Center. Opportunities exist to participate and collaborate on other subspecialty diagnostic services depending upon qualifications and department needs. Academic appointments necessitate participation in medical education and institutional, regional, and national conferences. A commitment to excellence in clinical service is required.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • A high commitment to excellence in clinical service with outstanding communication skills is essential.
  • Research opportunities include collaboration with the Departments of Surgical Oncology, and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


  • Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications

    Candidates for this position must have an MD or DO degree, qualify for a license to practice medicine in Illinois, and possess board certification in Anatomic Pathology.

    Fellowship training in Gynecologic Pathology/Oncologic Surgical Pathology is desired.
