Overview

The successful candidate will be part of the Accident Prevention Team (APT) for lifting and handling activities at Quonset Point . The candidate must be knowledgeable of Electric Boat rigging operations. Candidates shall be capable of maintaining excellent customer,management and trade relations.

The Manufacturing Representative- APT will regularly interact with core and non-core riggers to provide quality oversight and to develop pro-active strategies to improve performance. Regular interaction is also needed with the Lifting and Handling Discipline Steering Team(DST), Audit and Assessment, QP Lifting and Handling and the on-site Navy Crane Center representative. The Manufacturing Representative-APT will run the weekly SAPIP meeting with D920 manager and the Groton/Quonset Point APT meeting.

The ideal candidate will spend 75% of their time on the deck plates observing work. Based on these observations, the Manufacturing Representative-APT will make recommendations to D920 management on how to improve L&H performance in the Quonset Point shipyard.

This is primarily a 2nd shift position but candidates must be willing to work all shifts and overtime as required. They must also be able to communicate effectively across all operations departments and all levels of management.

This position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI.



Qualifications

Required:

    High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 plus years of shipyard experience
  • Electric Boat Lifting and handling experience (engineering or shipyard)
  • Must be available to work all shifts
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the department of defense

Preferred :

  • Previous Supervisory experience
  • Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs
  • Relevant education or training


Skills

  • Proficiency with the following computer programs: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel,Power-Point
  • Interpersonal, verbal and written skills
  • Ability to maintain excellent customer, management and trade relations
