Overview

D489 MAIN PROPULSION DRIVE (MPD) PROGRAM REPRESENTATIVE:

COLUMBIA Integrated Propulsion Systems (IPS) Engineering (Department 489) has an opening for a program representative to support manufacturing, test, and delivery of the Main Propulsion Drive (MPD). The MPD is a critical component in the revolutionary new propulsion system that will be installed in the upcoming COLUMBIA Class submarines. The person selected for this position will support multiple projects related to management and oversight of the MPD vendor. Responsibilities will include tracking the submittal and approval of documents needed to deliver the MPDs to Electric Boat, being a liaison for coordinating actions across various departments involved in a heavy weight shock test, and placement of purchase orders for future shipset MPDs.

Responsibilities

The person hired for this position may be expected to:

    Assist supervision and program management by managing trackers on project status
  • Coordinate with purchasing and program offices on topics related to vendor funding
  • Enforce technical and programmatic contract requirements on the sub-vendor (DRS-NPS)
  • Review vendor proposals and perform assessments on the reasonability of the proposed costs
  • Serve as primary point of contact and interface with customers (NAVSEA and NNL) and the sub-vendor
  • Perform document reviews to ensure consistency in content across the department


Qualifications

Required:

  • 0-14 years of professional experience
  • Experience using Microsoft Project, Excel
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
  • Ability to travel to vendor's facility in Milwaukee, WI

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Project Management, Business or Supply Chain Management
  • Experience working with NAVSEA/NNL
  • Experience in conflict resolution
  • Experience working on a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience managing procurement from a vendor
