Job Description

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is on the hunt for a dedicated and skilled Project Manager to oversee and manage ourUnattended Ground Sensors (UGS) modernization project.You will be responsible for managing operations of multiple teams tasked with operations, maintenance, and training of unattended ground sensors (UGS). This role demands a unique combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a strategic vision to support our CBP customer.

As aProject Manager for theUnattended Ground Sensor (UGS) modernization project, you will:



  • Serve as a technical sensor SME for the government customer

Responsibilities of aProject Manager (UGS):



  • Conduct virtual meetings with physically dispersed team leadsand eastern time zone CBP customersto monitor progress and resolve issues.
  • Attend daily technical meetings with the government PM and respond to data calls in a timely manner.
  • Manage remote teams overseeing UGS deployment, maintenance, and performance.
  • Provide strategic direction to ensure timely and efficient sensor operations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of UGS capabilities to support border security.
  • Advise on technical aspect of sensors (including but not limited to: seismic, acoustic, infrared, magnetic, and microwave sensors)
  • Schedule and track sensor training to ensure team readiness.
  • Collaborate with CBP officials to align operations with border security goals.
  • Develop and enforce program requirements for UGS operations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and operational guidelines.
  • Analyze field data to assess performance and improve operations.
  • Provide programmatic support to team members as needed.
  • Provide monthly deliverables consisting of program highlights, team activities and deployments.
  • Manage and coordinate UGS activities with USBP for seamless operations.

Job Requirements

  • Active CBP BIor TOP SECRETclearance
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM

    • Or equivalent military or law enforcement training.


  • At least 5 years of management experience and

    • a minimum of2 yearsof experiencewith unattended ground sensors (UGS) or similar technologies.


  • Must operate on the Eastern Time zone to ensure timely availability to CBP Customer
  • Technical knowledge ofvarious types of UGS(seismic, acoustic, infrared, magnetic, and microwave sensors).
  • Understanding of individualcomponents of UGSsystems (power supplies, communication modules, and sensor elements).
  • Proficiency in sensorcollection, processing, and datatransmission.
  • Understanding of wireless communication, encryption and security, and AI with Image Recognition.
  • Knowledge of best practices for sensor emplacement, site selection, and concealment.
  • Skills in signal processing, anomaly detection, and using software tools for data visualization.
  • Knowledge of integrating UGS with other security systems to ensure interoperability.
  • Proven experience in managing remote teams and providing strategic direction.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with team members and CBP officials.
  • Ability to develop and implement SOPs and training programs.
  • Understanding of the geographical and environmental conditions in deployment areas and techniques for adapting to these conditions.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing UGS use.


AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is$160,000 - $175,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
