Overview

The Newport Engineering Office (NEO), D702, is seeking an engineering supervisor to be part of the Backfit and Modernization Engineering team in Middletown, RI. D702 provides system engineering and technical evaluation of proposed in-service Submarine Non-Propulsion Electronic Systems (NPES) modifications to ensure strict adherence to Ship Specifications, proper integration into the submarine infrastructure, and accurate configuration status accounting. D702 Facility Engineers develop and maintain Engineering Data Packages for the implementation of NPES shipboard modifications in the Life Cycle Support Facility at NUWC Newport for Navy integration and certification testing. For fleet mission essential alterations including TRIDENT Alterations (TRIDs), Ship Alterations (ShipAlts), and Temporary Alterations (TEMPALTs), D702 system engineers work with the alteration developers to facilitate the identification of available ship's infrastructure that could support the alteration, and lead EB's engineering review of the Alteration Design Documentation Package (DDP). D702 system engineers also act as our Navy customer's trusted agent for the identification of ship safety, ship infrastructure integration and ship specification violations of these alterations.

This is an opportunity to work with a diverse group of engineers with a strong reputation for producing quality products that support the US NAVY. NEO boasts lab space in addition to development assets and offers the opportunity to work on large and technically challenging projects, but with the flexibility and personal feel of a small office environment.
