As a Ramp Agent, you will be essential in ensuring that flights run on time by providing efficient ground support services.

Job responsibilities:

  • Guide inbound/outbound airplanes to and from the gate.

  • Transport, lift, load/unload, sort, and transfer passenger baggage, cargo, and mail material in and out of aircraft bins, belt loaders, or baggage carts safely.

  • Safeguards customer baggage, air cargo, and airmail from weather, loss, theft, damage, and/or destruction.

  • Clean aircraft passenger cabins between flights and stock aircraft with needed supplies.

  • Operate heavy equipment, such as pushback equipment, and maintain visual contact with Wing Walkers to ensure the equipment is free of danger.

  • Operate and/or drive motorized equipment, such as belt loaders, air start units, lift trucks, push-back tugs, bag carts, lavatory carts, and deicers, or manually push and pull push carts and containers.Operate equipment to move luggage and cargo, tow planes between gates, and refill water tanks and lavatories.

  • Receive and record customer baggage, air freight, mail, and company materials as required.

  • Pick up, deliver, and transport cargo and baggage to and from aircraft, including wheelchairs, strollers, live animals, and other vital property of passengers, and prepare records in connection with these responsibilities.

  • Complete paperwork and forms related to work assignments and procedures and enter data into the company's information system as required.

  • Follow company procedures and protocols to ensure we are continually operating safely and responsibly.

  • Complete all training when required by the company, airport governing authority, or customer when required.

  • Be on time, be prepared, and be safe. Be willing to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Carry out work following information and training provided and any specific health, wellbeing, safety, and security rules or procedures.

  • Fully understand AGI Health & Safety and Security policies.

  • Attend training courses as may be required by AGI.

Physical Requirements:

  • This job requires physical stamina and strength - Ramp Agents must be able to lift/carry/push/pull and move items 70 pounds (32 kg) or more regularly and repetitively lift items weighing 40 to 50 pounds on raised surfaces.

  • Must be able to carry heavy items up and down narrow jetway stairs.

  • Must be able to walk, climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop frequently and for extended periods.

  • Must be able to work in cramped or high places.

  • Must be able to be alerted to moving vehicles or aircraft and use radio equipment to communicate with crew and airport authorities.

  • Must work outside in all types of weather, around jet and machinery noises.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Good Communication Skills-Ramp Agents must be able to effectively and professionally communicate information and instructions verbally and/or via radio equipment with the flight crew, gate agents, and other ground crew to coordinate the movement and handling of planes, equipment, baggage, and cargo.

  • Basic math skills: Ramp agents may be required to calculate weight and balance calculations for planes.

  • Computer skills: Ramp agents may be required to use computer systems to track cargo and baggage.

  • Problem-solving skills: Ramp agents may be called to troubleshoot issues during loading and unloading.

  • Time management skills: Ramp agents must manage their time effectively to complete tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

  • Be at least 18 and possess a high school diploma, GED, or work experience equivalent.

  • Must be bi-lingual (English and Spanish)

  • Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

  • If the work location is in the United States, the employee must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986. If the work location is in Canada, the employee must have authorization to work in Canada as defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) of 2001.

  • Must complete ramp and SIDA training to obtain airport authority identification security.

  • If required by customer or role access, a Customs Seal can be secured through the respective governing agency.

  • Preferred Qualifications - One+ years of relevant experience.
