About the role

Job Description Summary:

Translate Functional Objectives into technical requirements and solutions. Create and analyze alternative design concepts. Support Benchmarking of competitive vehicles. Maintain core Engineering Design Practices (EDP's). Implement innovation roadmaps as well as coordinate the advancement of new technologies and procedures to improve program timing. Define Customer interface requirements. Own and update Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Design Verification Plan & Report (DVPR), and Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) - ensure functional objectives, guidelines and corporate requirements are met. Interface with stakeholders at all levels including vehicle teams, HMI, validation, requirement leads, technical specialists, leadership, and develop robust functional designs. Follow, track and root cause build issues found during pre-production builds, prior to launch of the program and warranty analysis of all the components after the launch. Support resolution & design updates of vehicle packaging, logbook and manufacturing feasibility issues. Conduct Computer Aided Design (CAD) modeling (Catia / NX) and template set-up & maintenance using Knowledge Based Engineering template modeling techniques. Generate CAD and 2D drawings for components including GD&T. Work with designers to develop packaging and resolve issues. Reports to company headquarters in Auburn Hills, MI. Roving employee- will work at various unknown client sites throughout the U.S for up to 100% of the time. Must be willing to travel anywhere in the U.S and may be assigned to work at client sites across the U.S.

What you'll be doing

Qualifications:

Master's degree in Engineering (any) or related field of study and two (2) year of work experience in the job offered or related occupation in which the required experience was gained. In lieu of a Master's degree in Engineering (any) or related field of study and two (2) year of work experience in the job offered or related occupation in which the required experience was gained, employer will also accept a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (any) or related field of study and five (5) years of work experience in the job offered or related occupation in which the required experience was gained. Must also have demonstrated experience in the following: Generating concept designs, resolving problems and delivering detailed designs for chassis components using CATIA V5; Creating detailed drawings (GD&T) for individual components, sub-assembly, and assembly; CAE Design Analyst; Supporting DFMEA, DVP&R, APQP, VANE, DFSS and GDT team reviews; Participating in Gage Design review meetings and preparing Bill of Materials (BOM); Automotive electronic modules; Data Management; Teamcenter; Parametric tools; Lean Six Sigma; Automotive industry design/development activities; and Design, development, and release of automotive chassis components.

Salary offered for the position is: $117,853.00 - $122,853.00/year.

Primary Work Location:

900 N Squirrel Rd, Suite 300, Auburn Hills, MI 48326. Reports to company headquarters in Auburn Hills, MI. Roving employee- will work at various unknown client sites throughout the U.S for up to 100% of the time. Must be willing to travel anywhere in the U.S and may be assigned to work at client sites across the U.S.
