Overview Quonset Point - General Dynamics Electric Boat General Dynamics Electric Boat provides an unparalleled learning experience for college students, offering practical exposure in the defense industry alongside expert engineers, shaping the future of submarine innovation. Engineers at Electric Boat work collaboratively across departments and with our customer to develop innovative solutions for the United States Navy's nuclear submarines. As an Intern, you'll be exposed to various engineering activities with the support of our senior staff. This program grants our trainees the opportunity to develop valuable skills and dive into cutting-edge projects such as leading the Columbia Class design and enhancing Virginia Class submarines. Every intern will be exposed to a wealth of knowledge in order to excel in the engineering domain. This program requires a minimum commitment of 8 weeks during the Summer 2025 Season. Participation in this program requires medical screening, passing a drug test, and potential DOD Investigation This is not a remote opportunity. All applicants have the potential to be placed at either of the following locations: North Kingstown RI or Newport RI Quonset Point Intern Opportunities Include: Systems Engineer - Quality Assurance - Summer Internship Quality Assurance Engineers are engaged in all aspects of problem resolution for Quality issues that arise at the Quonset Point Facility. As Electric Boat continues to expand execution of new programs (Columbia and VPM), members of this team are key contributors to ensure success of these programs. QA Engineers routinely work cross functionally with internal and external customers to ensure a quality product. This position will report to the Quality Assurance Engineering Supervisor at QP. Responsibilities of the QA Engineer intern include leading investigations of quality deficiencies at the Quonset Point facility, and to assist in issues that impact both Quonset and Groton shipyards. Efforts will include development of recovery plans, coordinating the status and efforts of multiple departments, assuring adequate corrective action is taken and interacting with government agencies such as SUPSHIP and NAVSEA, as well as Electric Boat Senior Management through final resolution. Emergent issues may originate from any discipline, trade or supplier and will required candidates to become familiar with new subjects and topics in an expedited manner.
