We are seeking a DNCG Systems Engineer

This job is located on-site at the Washington Navy Yard, DC.

Job Description:

This position is in the Aircraft Carrier Design and Systems Engineering Directorate (SEA 05V) at Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). This position will be at the Washington Navy Yard and will serve as a Systems Engineer directly supporting the Nimitz (CVN68) and Ford (CVN78) Class Aircraft Carrier Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and Digital, Network, Cyber Group (DNCG) System Engineering Manager. Occasional travel to Tidewater area of Virginia may be expected in this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Function as a cognizant systems engineer for assigned projects, you are expected to proactively manage all relevant 05V tasking within these projects.

* Participate in multi-disciplinary teams, build consensus with numerous stakeholders, and coordinate with teams of engineers and support staff to complete projects.

* Coordinate in small teams (2 to 6 staff members) on multiple projects. This includes technical feedback and guidance, task tracking, and team communications.

* Review reports and study results from government and industry partners, provide technical recommendations, adjudicate comments, and prepare official technical correspondence.



  • Coordinate with Engineering Agents, Technical Authorities, TYCOM, PMS 312, PMS 378, SUPSHIP Newport News, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Ship Repair Facility (SRF), & other activities to resolve technical matters.
  • Review technical data packages, drawings, reports, logistics products, training, etc. and provide technical recommendations.
  • Develop formal presentations to brief to senior officials.



Qualifications:

* Engineer with a four-year degree and 7 years' experience with one or more of the following Ship Control Systems (SCS). Experience with other related control systems is also applicable.

oMachinery Control and Monitoring System (MCMS) / Machinery Control System (MCS) or similar

oMachinery Control network systems and related infrastucture

oSteering Gear Control Systems

oVoice/Video over IP related systems

oNavigation

oSupervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems

oDamage Control software applications.

* Good project management, technical writing, and organizational skills

Preferred/Desired:



  • Engineer with degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Systems engineering from an accredited university.
  • Experience with shipboard networks and systems with Navy, Coast Guard, or Merchant Marine.
  • Prior Carrier, Submarine, or Surface Ship (Navy or Coast Guard) system engineering experience is preferred, but not required.



Security Clearance:



  • Must have an active Secret Security Clearance and U.S. Citizenship
