Overview

The role of a Docking Supervisor onboard the SHIPPINGPORT is vital to the success of the day to day operations of this facility.

It is expected that the individual selected for this position will be a pro-active leader who is willing to pursue the knowledge and qualifications necessary to become part of a team dedicated to overseeing the safe and effective operation of SHIPPINGPORT, (ARDM 4), a SUBASE New London, government owned facility operated by General Dynamics Electric Boat, which is certified to dock U.S. Navy nuclear powered submarines and various types of service craft.

The selected individual will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the cleanliness and preservation onboard the dry dock, including the development and implementation of a preservation plan. The selected candidate will also be overall responsible for maintaining the ARDM 4 supply and HAZMAT/HAZWASTE programs.

It is required that this individual be willing to qualify the following on board SHIPPINGPORT:

    Navy 3M/Authorizing Officer
  • Controlled Inspector
  • Sounding & Security
  • Duty Supervisor
  • Line Handling Supervisor
  • Ballast Controller

Must hold or be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance as a condition of employment, obtain and maintain fall protection and MEWP Qualifications, and the selected candidate must qualify as a Limited Radiation Worker.



Qualifications

Required:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance as a condition of employment.
  • 3+ years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Experience with the use and management of HAZMAT materials and associated monitoring programs.
  • Experience with Electric Boat or military supply management programs

Preferred:

  • Familiar with the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual.
  • Familiar with the U.S. Navy 3M and supply programs.
  • Any familiarity with line handling, mooring or docking of Naval vessels.
  • Prior service in the US Navy will be considered favorable for this position.
  • 3+ years of related experience with interior and exterior preservation management


Skills

  • Must qualify as a Limited Radiation Worker.
  • Must have the ability to act with professionalism and integrity at all times.
  • Must obtain and maintain fall protection and MEWP Qualifications.
  • Must have effective time management and prioritization skills to successfully function in a fast paced operating environment.
  • Must have above average PC skills and proficiency with MS Office suite.
