The Role: The Volunteer Engagement Center Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of volunteer activity, receiving, stocking, picking, inventory accuracy and sanitation of the Volunteer Engagement Center.

Responsibilities:

  • Match available volunteer projects with volunteer individuals and/or groups to ensure a quality finished project and an exciting volunteer experience.
  • Manage volunteers during the project; ensure quality control is being maintained throughout project; ensure projects are performed in a safe manner; ensure volunteers have adequate materials and supplies to perform jobs; be available for volunteer questions.
  • Partner with the Logistics & VEC Manager to ensure efficient and accurate identification, receiving and put-away of product using safe food handling practices.
  • Partner with Logistics & VEC Manager to ensure inventory is maintained at adequate levels and all inventory control processes and procedures are followed.
  • Ensure continuous compliance with Harvesters' food safety standards using daily, weekly, monthly and annual sanitation checklists.
  • Regularly inspect facilities and equipment documenting and addressing any sanitation needs.
  • Follow and maintain AIB, Feeding America, and Harvesters' sanitation procedures.

Other Aspects of the Job:

This position functions in a warehouse environment. It requires the use of general office equipment, such as computers, copiers and fax machines. It requires heavy lifting up to 50 pounds and extensive walking through the warehouse, back and forth to the office, etc. 25% of the time. Incumbent will spend 15% of the time stationary working at a computer terminal. Supervisor will spend 35% of the time operating equipment, such as a forklift, pallet jack or other machinery and 25% of their time working with volunteers starting projects, providing supplies they need and following back up with the groups to ensure quality and safety standards are being followed.

This position requires an understanding of all Harvesters food safety policies and compliance with all food safety related procedures. This position will work a varied schedule, rotating evenings and Saturdays, occasional Sundays.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Experience working and coordinating a diverse group of people. Heavy equipment materials handling/warehouse experience preferred. Must be digitally literate.
  • Education: Requires a high school education or equivalent experience with good verbal and written communication skills.
