Human Resource Assistant -- Hattiesburg, MS

JOB DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Performs the Human Resource functions for the facility, i.e. safeguard sensitive facility information

- Process weekly payroll documents

- Monitors safety program

- Involved in the Employment Process

- Assist in new hire orientations

- Perform a wide array of clerical functions

- Research, prepare, review, and analyze various monthly data for Facility Manager.

- Coordinate with Management and Lead People concerning plant issues and meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Educational requirements - High School diploma or equivalent.

Requires strong leadership qualities.

Must be able to understand company goals.

Must be able to work independently.

Must have an understanding of State and Federal laws concerning work environment.

Strong communications skills, basic mathematical, computer skills, and writing skills are essential.

JOB ANALYSIS

OCCUPATION Human Resource Assistant DEPT. Human Resources

Job Functions: (Note: The job functions relate to the job, not the individual.)

Essential Job Functions (The fundamental job duties):

1. Performs the Human Resource functions for the facility:

- Provide guidance to managers and lead people concerning Human Resource issues.

- Organize, maintain, and update employee personnel files.

- Monitor and process documentation for employee disciplinary procedures. (i.e. attendance policy violation tracking)

- Track PTO.

- Track short term disability.

- Track Family Medical Leave time and complete documentation.

- Maintain and safeguard employee medical files.

- Field any calls from the outside regarding employment verifications.

- Assist in annual insurance enrollment.

- EAP Coordinator for the facility.

- Perform exit interviews.

2. Edits employee timesheets and processes bi-weekly payroll.

3. Monitors safety program:

- Responsible for maintaining OSHA required safety programs current

- Responsible for safety training

- Ensure accurate and timely completion of all accident and incident reports.

- Maintain/post OSHA 200 log.

- Enter all accident and incident reports in to system.

- Act as location contact between company, employee, and work comp insurance carrier.

4. Involved in the Employment Process:

- Recruitment -- place ads, job postings, and utilizes Taleo for recruitment

- Application review process

- Schedules and participates in all Interviews
