Overview

This position is for our Kings Bay, GA site.

This job requires experience with installation, operation and/or testing of multiple ships systems on all class of submarines. Selected individuals will be responsible for performing work in/on electrical systems in accordance with Task Group Instructions (TGIs). Successful candidate should have thorough working knowledge of ships systems and equipment. Candidates must be flexible as well as adaptable in a team environment. The ability to learn and apply manufacturing skills efficiently to complete jobs is desirable.



Qualifications

Required:

    High school education or GED
  • 4+ year's shipyard or Navy involvement with repair, installation and/or testing of ships systems and components.
  • Ability to use NAVSEA/SP and ships drawings, technical manuals, Ships Systems Manuals and various other documents in the performance of this task is required.
  • Must be able to work all shifts. Must be able to climb and descend ladders.
  • Selected applicants must be available for travel to offsite facilities to work up to 11 months per an assignment.
  • Must be able to obtain a DOD SECRET security clearance.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of shipbuilding processes and procedures.
  • Previous shipyard skills.
  • Knowledge of marine systems, blueprint readings, military procedures and specifications is highly sought.
  • Prior experience as a missile technician, sonar technician, electrical, electronic, or shipyard trades experience and/or shipyard test organization electrical or electronic technicians with extensive experience in operation and maintenance of HM&E equipment.
  • Candidate with experience with preventive maintenance of equipment.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing electrical/electronic.
  • Prior experience in the following: Installation and maintenance of ships systems such as electrical power/signal cable installations, switchboards, power distribution panels, lighting components, terminal boxes and similar electrical components.


Skills

  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions and to communicate effectively in English required.
  • Must have ability and use of multiple types of power tools, hand tools, ability to read blueprints, ships technical manuals and followexact tolerances.
