Job Summary

Supports the day-to-day operations of the accounting area including all general ledger accounts and financial statements, accountable for timely and accurate financial statement preparation, and ensures accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end closing processes.

Responsibilities

Essential functions



  • Lead and develop senior and staff accountants

    • Conducts mid-year and annual performance reviews


  • Manages day-to-day operations of the accounting functions including all general ledger accounts and financial statements

    • Reviews associated journal entries and reconciliations.


  • Accountable for timely and accurate financial statement preparation and working directly with finance teams and other business partners.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with customers, vendors, and others related to the company; promote and maintain the identity and reputation of Border States, ensuring customer satisfaction and addressing problems and complaints as they arise.
  • Ensures the collection and maintenance of accurate accounting information as requested in accordance with the requirements of the company's information system.
  • Provides accurate, timely documentation of general ledger accounts and other information as requested.
  • Ensures accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close process and reporting.
  • Ensures all required functions are performed meeting the company's high-quality standards and that all functions are staffed by qualified personnel.
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit, asset-based loan audit, 401k audit, and ESOP audit.

  • Assists in establishing and communicating company goals and requirements.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow.
  • Facilitates brainstorming & process improvement atmosphere
  • Collaborates with other corporate teams to improve processes and communication
  • Coordinate and lead team meetings and one-on-ones


Qualifications

  • Four-year accounting, finance or business administration degree
  • Seven+ years of progressive accounting or equivalent related work experience.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.
  • A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or similar designation is required.

* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP.
