Summary

Responsible for performing semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of streets and alleys.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Operate 12-yard dump truck. Transport materials between job sites. Maintain street and alley pavement by:

  • patching distressed areas with hot and cold asphalt material

  • level lifting distressed areas utilizing polyurethane injection equipment

  • sealing joints and cracks by applying a hot tar sealant

  • Attend safety meetings on a monthly basis.

  • Perform pre-trip/post-trip vehicle inspections and complete daily work sheet for equipment operated.

  • Clean and maintain job site.

  • Keep work location and vehicle(s) in order.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) No experience

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of, experience or training in construction and maintenance of streets and alleys.

  • Knowledge of safety practices and hazards standard to work area

  • Skill to operate various equipment and machinery

  • Ability to understand and implement verbal and written instructions

  • Ability to perform physical labor

  • Ability to comprehend written and oral work assignments and perform work as assigned

Licenses and Certifications

Valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License with a Tanker Endorsement or the ability to obtain within six months of hire Valid Class C Texas driver's license

  • The incumbent works in a field environment including construction sites; frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards.

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more several times daily.

  • Occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and hazards which may include biological, chemical, flammable, or other hazards unknown based on work location and assignment.

  • Training and protective measures are required, including proper donning/doffing of personal protective equipment, as applicable.
