Analytical Chemistry Intern

Our Analytical Technologies team is searching for an Analytical Chemistry Intern to drive analytical support for the filtration development in life sciences and other business units. This position is a ~12-week internship (Summer 2025) experience. The intern will have a specific method development project designed for the summer as an opportunity to expand their skills, learn about Donaldson, and broaden their work experience.

Daily responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to plan experimental design to solve challenging analytical problems in filtration product development
  • Execute analytical testing, analyze and interpret data, and authors clearly articulated reports and data presentations
  • Develop novel analytical methods using a wide range analytical instrumentation
  • Participate in problem solving and provide recommendation to project team based on analytical data
  • Performs other assignments (standardized testing, EHS initiatives etc.) as needed
  • Advance understanding of competitive media in collaboration with engineers and the analytical team

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Rising junior (current sophomore) or rising senior (current junior) pursing a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, material science, polymer science, or other related fields.
  • Experience working in chemistry laboratory setting including laboratory safety practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and communication skills.
  • Must have a current cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Work experience with analytical chemistry techniques such as HPLC, LCMS, GCMS, FTIR is a plus.
  • Work experience with protein or other biomolecule analysis experience
  • General filtration knowledge/experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with membrane technology and operating principles is a plus.
