Job Summary: This position plays a vital role in the day-to-day functioning of the potato breeding program by managing the planning and implementation of planting and harvesting activities for greenhouse and field projects. The role involves creating and managing electronic and written records related to greenhouse and field operations, standard operating procedures, research outcomes, and inventories. This individual oversees post-harvest evaluations and storage maintenance of potato germplasm, including the preparation of shipments and associated paperwork. They also aid in applying for phytosanitary permits and handling regulatory documentation for international shipments. Additional responsibilities include taking part in outreach programs connected to the station. Responsibilities: Develops, designs, and conducts one or more research projects and organizes daily operation of projects and specialized research areas to ensure work meets established objectives under moderate supervision. 25% Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and monitors test results 20% Operates, cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and research area. Qualifications: -Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is required. -Experience with the operation of handheld devices, instrumentation, and software used for data collection (e.g. environmental controllers, irrigation scheduler, Android handheld, HOBO temperature logger) is preferred. -Experience conducting field and greenhouse operations is preferred. License/Certification: Required Drivers License - Valid and Meets UW Risk Management Standards Required Pesticide Applicator - State Licensure Must obtain within first 6 months of employment Required Must obtain FAA remote pilot certification within the first 6 months of employment Work Type: Full Time: 100% It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
