Associate (EP) - Central Construction Department Office

Overview

The Central Construction department is seeking to bring in an entry level professional to work with Central Construction to assist with a number of administrative and field initiatives. With a large amount of Substation work being designed and constructed over the next five to seven years, specifically in the Brooklyn and Queens areas, we are looking to develop entry level professionals that will develop into future Chief Construction Inspectors and Field Planners.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Support the organization by providing administrative support for invoicing, payments and other data centered areas of the business while working with the Construction Manager to improve these processes.
  • Learn and provide support for special departmental projects and work management systems such as LOT, COMPASS, Summons, Electronic Packaging System, Oracle, CRMS and NYC Streets, etc.
  • Provide back up to the Senior Specialist and Chief Construction Inspectors (CCI) to assist and oversee weekly contractor activities and union activities.
  • Fill in for CCIs when necessary.
  • Aid the department in administrative tasks.
  • Track the department's training and enter all credits in TAAR system.
  • Manage and track the organization's Part 360 Waste program.
  • Provide support for developing and reporting the department goals, metrics, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Perform field visits to develop a working knowledge of the operations performed in Construction & conduct Job Site Safety Exchanges for each location with improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure Human Performance Improvement (HPI) tools are incorporated into daily work activities.
  • Participate in the Company's emergency management processes and storm plans as required.
  • Assist Senior Specialists and CCIs with the training of new employees on the various systems used in Construction Management Electric.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and One year of work experience including internships, co-ops, research experience
Relevant Work Experience
  • Effective interpersonal skills to effectively interact with company employees and external customers. Required
  • One year of work experience (including CO-OP, Internship or Research).

  • One year of experience using Microsoft Office products Required
  • Must exercise good judgement and render sound decisions Required
  • Must demonstrate a positive work ethic in support of the Company's Corporate Values and Missions Required
Licenses And Certfications
  • Driver's License Required
Additional Physical Demands
  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
  • Must sit or stand to answer a phone for entire shift.
  • Must sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for entire shift.
  • Must have excellent manual dexterity and be able to use hands for entire shift.
  • Must stand to use operate office equipment for entire shift.
