Overview

The Operating Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the safe, courteous, accurate, and efficient performance of Special Forces / Revenue Protection clerical and field activities. This includes collection activities involving physical turn off and turn on of all gas and electric metering devices, physical disconnect and reconnect of underground and overhead services, replevin of meters, and irregular meter conditions and theft of service and investigations.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Supervises Special Forces / Revenue Protection Unit employees in the performance of the above field activities as outlined in the Purpose section of this position guide. Schedules and deploys weekly employees in the Section to attain goals and objectives associated with the Revenue Protection section and meet regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Ensures weekly employees are adequately trained to perform their job functions by coordinating and scheduling training, communicating and delivering job training, and performing training and field observations and evaluations.
  • Assists in the development of reasonable expectancies (REs) and evaluates weekly employee performance in the performance of meeting REs and other goals, and recommends remedial actions if needed.
  • Handle currency (cash, checks) as collected during collections activities, verify counts for accuracy, and prepare and conduct deposits as needed.
  • Coordinate with other departments (Energy Services, I&A, Central Streetlight Operations, etc.) and external organizations (DOT, DEA, DOB, etc.) on activities related to theft of service and revenue recovery.
  • Participates in Site Safety support for weather-related ICS and/or Corporate CERC emergencies as necessary. Provides support on a 24-hour basis as needed during Corporate emergencies.
  • Performs other assignments and provides administrative support for the Section as directed.
  • May perform other related assigns as needed.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma/GED with 5 years work experience; or
  • Associate's Degree with 4 years work experience or
  • Bachelor's Degree with 2 years work experience
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree
Relevant Work Experience
  • Minimum of 2-5 years work experience required with a minimum of 1 year of Customer Operations experience or equivalent experience demonstrating strong customer-focused responsibilities Required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills Required
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and manage a workforce Required
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and efficiently utilize significant equipment and human resources Required
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and render sound business decisions Required
  • Possess strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn new software applications Required
  • Prior supervisory experience Preferred
  • Prior work experience in an operating environment Preferred
  • Knowledge of gas and/or electric meter installations, cycle meter reading, turn on/off of gas and/or electric meters, underground and overhead electric equipment, theft of service, and remote metering devices Preferred
  • Knowledge of CIS and Customer Operations Credit and Collections policies and procedures Preferred
  • Knowledge of work management systems, such as IRIS, Maximo, Work Management System, and/or CPMS Preferred
  • Ability to analyze data and utilize tools such as Access and/or Tableau Preferred

  • Driver's License Required
Physical Demands
  • Must work at field locations in all weather conditions
Additional Physical Demands
  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
  • Must be willing to obtain US DOT Operator Qualification for tasks associated with gas meter turn off, valve integrity testing, and identification of hazardous gas conditions.
  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
  • Must be available on a 24/7 basis to respond to system emergencies.
